Default Bra fittings anyone?

I got fitted for a bra sometime towards the end of high school at Victoria's Secret and they told me I was a 34C so thats what I am been buying and now some of my bras are not fitting properly. I know I can't be a D (because my friend said she is a D and I in no way can cmopare to her) but sometimes I get the boob muffintop and sometimes the bra feels too big! What is going on? Where do you suggest getting a fitting? Should I just go back to VS and get refitted or should I try some place else? Maybe its not my bra?

Thanks for you help in advance!

I think you should go and get another fitting, because you could actually be a d cup and just not know it. Your body isn't the same as your friends so I wouldn't compare yourself to her, my best friend looks like she's bigger than me, but I actually wear the larger cup size.

You should def go somewhere different - I am a bit of a prude & cringe when I'm been fitted but still have a fitting everytime I buy a bra as the size you need differs between styles.
I also try & go somewhere where the sales assistants are alittle older as I find their better at measuring.

i agree that VS sucks. I am a small girl (size 5) and i wear a 36 or 38 D and I dont find much support in VS bras. Believe it or not, my best fitting bras come out of Lane Bryant...even my lacey sexy bras. I got measured in there also

I wear three different sizes at VS depending on the style of bra. There are only two bra companies that fit me well, so that's what I buy. There is a place in NJ (45 min from NYC) that is a custom bra shop, they are one on one and carry quality goods. they even do prosthetics! PM me for more info. I agree to try La Perla too.

I wear a 34 C I thought I wore a 34B at VS but its too tight for me it squishes my boobs! ... if the bras have padding in them I reccommend sizing up... that may be your big problem.

I would recommend Nordstrom or Bloomingdales for bra fittings. And as KC1984 mentioned up thread, each style runs a bit differently and a good bra specialist will be able to help you with that as well. I always try on a few sizes in my range to see which one fits properly. Good luck!

I used to think I was a 34B but turns out I'm 32C/D (depending on the bra) and it's because it's slim around the ribcage but have erm...meat, hehe. Could that be your problem too?

you should actually get a bra fitting like every six months considering that your body changes. Also that your bras warp and stretch over time that may be why they dont fit anymore.

i mean if you got fitted at then end of highschool...and you are now a college graduate (per your sig) then you definitely need to get fitted again. you dont necessarily stay the same size for the rest of your life.

also comparing your breast size to another persons breast size isnt always an accurate form of measuring. you wouldnt believe how many girls i have seen who are D's but look like theyre a larger C or who are DDs and think they are Ds.

you also have to keep in mind that different style bras may be larger or smaller on you, like jeans.

I would definitely go to a lingerie boutique to get a fitting. Depending on your size, they will be able to recommend bras that will work for you. Also, I have found bra sizes vary by the brand/style. I can be a 32B in Aubade and 34B in another brand.

I agree with the others that VS bras can be a crapshoot. I tried them a few times and they just don't fit an Asian body type. I like Italian and French brands more because they tend to have smaller sizes and molds to your body instead.

So get another fitting and try out a ton of bras to find the ones for you. Best of luck!

I would also suggest Nordies or Bloomies for a fitting. And older SA's seem to do a better fitting IMO.

I would definitely go to Nordstrom to be fitted. They are really professional and knowledgable. Just a little food for thought: sometimes when you are on your period your breasts can swell causing your bra to feel tight, then when this subsides the material may be a little stretched out. THis could be the reason your bra feels loose/tight. I would still get fitted though. A woman's breast size is constantly changing and it is likely that you will not be the same size you were in high school. HTH!!

In addition to what others have said, there are several other factors that make for a varying fit of a bra.
Keep in mind there is no standardized sizing among bra manufacturers. So a C cup in one company can be a B or D in another company. For example, European styles/manufacturers tend to fit deeper in the cup and narrower around the band.
The material also plays a role molded cups tend to fit shallower than lace/microfiber cups. Oh yes, don't forget to take into account the fit of the underwire. Some underwires are narrower and some are wider than others and regardless of the cup and band size if your underwire doesn't fit, you will have an ill fitting bra.
When someone measures you (no matter how good you think they are) it is only a starting point for you to go from. It is not a set in stone size. I use to work in lingerie and I would teach ladies how to look and feel for a proper fit instead of hanging them up on a "size".
HTH
