I absolutely coats! (have more coats than pants/skirts!)

I'm pleasantly surprised so many people said Burberry. I agree, as I recently bought a Cashmere/Wool coat, and have it here next to me at work (LOVE it!) It's great for a 'classic' coat:

Were you after something to 'stand out' or a classic to use all the time?

If you're after something more 'stand-out', I also recently bought these coats by Spijkers en Spijkers (although it may be too 'weird' for some, so not everyone's 'cup of tea', couldn't decide between the two colours so got both ). Good luck with your search

for most part agree with many others about burberry but just make sure u aim for the fitted styles ; b/c the others can look rather boxy IMHO.
i like the burberry double breasted jacket in chino and some other ones that are in the look book now they are giving out at the store when u go shopping.

I do like some of club monacos styles.

This coat is gorgeous!

I have a coat thing - always buying, always looking for fashionable but *warm*.
Winter is very cold here - I have a Burberry funnel neck, Jcrew Thinsulate, and a Mackage - the Mackage is my absolute fave. Modern & stylish but keeps you nice & warm! I like Cinzia Rocca too.

I'm always freezing in winter (my fingers and hands actually turn blueish-purple because of the cold) and no coat seemed to work, until I got a Prada (sport I think) coat in 2005. It's so comfortable, and a lot of thought has gone into the design. For example, the pockets are fur lined (so I can keep my hands warm), it has extra pulls on the sleeves (so the wind can't enter) and a fold up hood. It also has a fur collar which can be zipped up high to double as a scarf. I really can't live without my coat when it gets really cold. In fall I usually wear a Versace trench (a woolen trench that is - I already mentioned I'm sort of an ice cube really), a NoLiTa coat and I'll be trying my brand new Cavalli leather motorcycle jacket (got that one yesterday). I'll also get a Max Mara beige long coat. But the Prada will get me through winter!

Some piccies, firstly the Prada, then the Just Cavalli (pic from neimans website)

Really? Isn't it ? I got mine for xmas from my little sister almost 2 years ago, and LOVE it! Took me almost 1 1/2 years to actually wear it, as I thought it had to be used as a wrap Duh! LOVE the alpaca

My sister has an almost identical coat to the one I posted above, but at the end of the sleeves it's almost bell-sleeved, GORGEOUS! 'Nico Reilly' wore it on the 3rd to last episode of Lipstick Jungle's 1st season, and is
