Hey guys/gals, not sure if this goes here or in the general discussion thread.

I often go to themed parties and last time it was beehives/skinny ties theme. This time around, it's the 1990's (eww!)

I was too young in the 90's to really care about style, so all I wore were nike tshirts and nike shorts. When I do searches, I keep coming up with Beverly Hills "90210" look. Is that really what was showing on the covers of Vogue and stuff?I would also hate to go there looking like Chris Cross and Cross Colours.

What was in fashion back in the 90's. In other words, if Purseblog was around back then, what kind of "reveals" would we be seeing? Pictures if possible =P

There are references to the 90's in most of the spring collections. Think Alexander Wang, nude, pale pink, acid wash, ripped/distressed jeans and cropped oversize tee's..

I graduated high school in 199X so this is making me smile. I wore the Courtney Love babydoll dress look or the Alicia Silverstone Clueless movie look. Good luck and have fun at the party!

Lol I did too... barely made it at 1999. But again, I wasn't stylish back then and wasn't reading up on fashion the way I do now.

Clueless is perfect for inspiration. I suggest checking it out.

Grunge fashion and music was popular too, like ripped up jeans and flannels. You could look at music groups like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Soundgarden for inspiration.

Are you going for the kitschy or high fashion look? It's a 90's party, the cornier the better! lol you want people to be able to tell.

But if you want to go high fashion, I'd google some of the magazine spreads with the supermodels of the 90s, e.g. Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, etc. Some of the stuff is not that mainstream, so you might leave people confused about your outfit of choice

OMG fantastic !! You want to make a 90´s statement !
See "saved by the bell", or go for Grunge, levi´s 501, with bodycon, oversized opened shirt, doc martens with a babydoll dress, scrunchies, or early 90´s with cyclist shorts ! There is so much you can do !!
It was also a lot about showing your belly button if you dare -> Xtina Aguilera, Britney Spears cropped tops
Or do the whole "Spice Girls" thing with platform shoes or plastic dominatrix dresses a la matrix !
