Warm weather:
Kamakazi

Cold (as in 40F or below) weather
Makers Mark bourbon
or
B&B (brandy and Benedictin)
Both must absolutely be served in a huge snifter

A rule-deviation story:
I spent one November in Florence, Italy. It was unusually cold. Coldest fall in 30 years, in fact.
So I would stop at a bar in the mid-afternoon to warm up. I ordered a hot chocolate with a bump (1 ounce) of Frangelico. Warmed me up every single time.

Bellini (when I'm feeling upscale)
Mojito (for a cocktail or two)
Dark and Stormy (when I'm going to drink more than a few)
Kettle One with seltzer and lime (when I really want to put some back)
Barbera (for those nice, long dinners)

Ladybug, you should! They are really yummy. I sometimes make my own, because it's just white wine and creme de cassis which is blackcurrant liqueur. Use roughly 1 tbs (aka a good splash) of cassis and fill the rest of the glass with white wine. Perfect as an aperetif before dinner!

At Christmas, I love my White Russians...that was me & my dad's tradition every Christmas Eve: watch A Christmas Story marathon, drink white russians and pig out on holiday goodies....*sigh* I really miss him!
your dad sounds like he was a lot of fun, that is a wonderful tradition!
