I rarely eat meat and sweets. People are always like, "Candy? How could you not like candy???!"

Yuckage! I hate cottage cheese! Ricotta, I can deal with, if it's in a pasta dish. But cottage cheese, forget it!

I'm a vegan, so I don't eat meat, dairy, or eggs. Other than that, I'll eat almost anything. There are a few foods, vegan or not, that I hate:

MAYONNAISE! and all of its compatriots, including potato salad and pasta salad
Corn, the worst vegetable, served in any form
Cheese, other dairy products (they make me feel like I need to brush my teeth)
Desserts or other dishes containing nuts (I hate mixed textures)
Relatedly, chunky things, like chunky peanut butter
Cooked raisins
Bananas
Red apples
...not a big fan of potatoes, either

I don't have a big sweet tooth, and I can't stomach lots of cookies, cake, or candy. There are no vegetables that I won't eat, except for corn and most forms of potatoes.

ETA:
Liquor, including mixed drinks (I will drink very bitter beer and very dry wine)

I dont eat...

Condiments:
- Mustard
- Relish
- Mayonnaise
- Sour cream
- Any salad dressing except Italian

Drinks:
- Coffee
- Tea
- Milk

Food:
- Cheese (exceptions: mozzerella, parmasean... The majority of the foods I don't eat contain cheese)
- Seafood (exception: fish sticks )
- Yogurt, pudding
- Fruit flavored ice cream
- Eggs any way but scrambled with a ton of salt
- Dips like guacamole, caviar or hummus
- Coconut ANYTHING
- Most casseroles, anything with a lot of flavors mixed together
- Pretty much anything exotic or different... I'm a very plain eater.

I should totally print this out and give copies to everyone I know, like, "If you were thinking of inviting me to dinner, and any of these are on the menu, don't bother!" lol
A lot of people think picky eaters are just rude for not trying new things or being open-minded, and yeah, maybe we are a little rude for not trying your what-the-hell ever... But the fact is, I know what I like, and I'd think it would be a lot more rude for me to have to spit it onto my plate or have my gag reflex ignited by the smell than to just not have it at all.
I think it's rude not to offer someone something else to eat if they weren't warned and aren't into what you made. I know when people come over to my house I've either told them what I'm making ahead of time and asked them if it's cool with them, or if they're already over I'll ask them what they want and give them options. Not everyone likes the same things, and you really can't expect them to starve because their tastes differ from yours....
I'm just saying because I remember in another thread there was a lot of bashing on picky eaters for being rude people and how a bunch of posters said they'd let their guests starve if they didn't like what they had made...

Great thread!! It's good to know I'm not alone out here. Here's my list:

-Avocado (it tastes like nothing to me. It feels like what I imagine a spoonful of lard would be.)
- Shrimp. They feel funny when you chew them
- Lettuce. I can't stand the crunchiness or the taste.
- Mushrooms. Weird texture.
- Sushi. It tastes horrible.

OMG! I have this fight with my Mom all the time. I may sound crazy, but I hate going over to people's houses to eat. You might think I am ridiculous, but certain people have customs that they think are normal. Like one Thanksgiving, I went over to a "friends" house who put ranch dressing in EVERYTHING. From the mashed potatoes, to a casserole thing, even an odd "drizzle" for the turkey instead of gravy. It was disturbing and soo out of left field..hahah. My Mom always tells me that people shouldn't have to approve a menu with me, or cook to my liking- which i can agree with. But, seriously, a heads up would be appreciated! I prefer to have gatherings at restaurants, because I can ALWAYS find something.

Ah, I forgot to add avocado to my own list. I like guacamole, but HATE avocado. You're right: it tastes like nothing. Yuck. I don't really like cucumber for the same reason.
