Yeah, Maryland is a little backwards when it comes to alcohol. In our county (Montgomery, which is where Bethesda is located, to give you an idea, and it's the Metro DC area) you can buy beer/wine only from "beer stores," and then you have to buy hard liquor from GOVERNMENT-RUN LIQUOR STORES. [/quote]

It is weird, isn't it? We live in Howard County now, but most of my life I lived in Montgomery County and I just took the liquor laws for granted. But once I started travelling I was SHOCKED to see people buying beer and wine in grocery stores! I mean literally shocked!

I really must go to Trader Joe's sometime soon! Everybody on this thread has been saying the nicest things about the store.

Wow, we have no TJ's where I live - wish I did, b/c if it's not organic/natural, it doesn't come to my house. I shop at Whole Foods, and some of their stuff is their own brand (and less expensive). It's really nice that I can get natural "girl stuff" since the stuff they sell in the drug store can make you sick. I'm shopping for a new house now, and a big requirement is that it must be within a certain distance of WFM (not just any one, either, the one I go to now). I may sound crazy, but you gotta eat!

All of you who are on the natural/organic meat plan - you are doing a great thing, these farming methods are more animal friendly and definitely better for you and the environment!

I love it! One of my kind!!! We buy almost all organic foods and all organic/free range poultry, or grass-fed organic beef. Do you eat seafood? I know a lot of people that do the organic/natural lifestyle but don't do the sustainable/natural seafood...if you're already on the boat, awesome, and if not, PM me and I can give you all the info! It's amazing how little people know about the seafood industry and sustainability and all that.

ETA: leelee -- See, I'm the opposite, being from CA, and have never had to go anywhere but TJ's or the local supermarket to do all my beer/wine/liquor shopping! It's so bizarre here. What bothers me the most is the ban on winery shipments...we have quite a few wineries back home that we really miss, and it's so silly that I can't enjoy a taste of home because of these silly laws.

OMG - I'm addicted to those Banana Crisps already!! I bought a bag and my and my girlfriends tried them when we got to the car. One of my girlfriends ran right back into the store and bought 2 more bags!! Totally TDF - especially if like the sweet and salty thing.

Those are delicious!! Way better than regular pretzels. And small enough for a little snack without overdoing it.

I made this Trade Joe's turkey chili for Superbowl, and it was a big hit! SUPER easy, nutritious, and delicious. Seriously. I just dumped all of the ingredients (brown the turkey first) into our slow cooker and our friends helped themselves to hot chili all day.

Trader Joe's Easy Turkey Chili

1 can Trader Joe's "Marinated Bean Salad" (it's an aluminum can with pictures of beans around the top and bottom and the words are in yellow on a black background)
2 jars Trader Joe's "Chunky Salsa" (fat free, has a drawing of a tomato and a jalapeño on it on a black label)
1 lb. lean ground turkey

Brown the turkey. Combine all ingredients. Heat. Serve.

Top with: lowfat sour cream, lowfat shredded sharp cheddar cheese, and diced purple onion

I usually check out with box full of wine.

Some of my favorites are:
Dried dragon fruit- seasonal
Artichoke ravioli
Kids love Hawaiian salt & vinegar chips
Chili seasoned mango slices
Cheese tamales
Goat cheeses
pistachio white chocolate chip cookies
flour-less chocolate cake

It is such a fun store. Absolutely hate the crowds on the weekends

I love Tj's. Some of my favorites have already been mentioned but here are a few more:

Frozen Chicken Breast Tenders - these are great - defrost quickly to cook on the Foreman and add to salad.
Artichoke antipasto - great with their pita chips when someone drops in for a drink.
Smoked Salmon - the price is good and it's sliced thin and great flavor.
Wasabi Mayonaise - this was out for awhile but is not back in- I serve it on the side when I grill teryiaki salmon - adds an extra kick.
their brand of General Tsao's sauce - this is great for stir fry. A lot like the Soy vey sauces.
the David Glass Choclate Truffle Cake - this is to DIE for. it's made here in CT and is ohhhhhh so good!

BOOOO!!!

I went to Trader Joe's to get a jar of their chocolate hazelnut spread and it's discontinued because of poor sales! That spread was soo good. If I had know they were going to discontinue it I would have stocked up! They said that people preferred Nutella....but TJ's spread didn't have that partially hydrogenated stuff in it.

I'm in mourning now....
