So Thanksgiving is approaching and although I will not be making all of the meal, I would like to find some wonderful recipes to share with my family.

What are your favorite Thanksgiving recipes?

Anyone have a good homemade stuffing recipe? I'm thinking of using shredded chicken and cornbread or regular white bread. Last year I added apples but the BF requested no apples in the stuffing this year!

I have a sweet potato/ marshmallow recipe that I will dig up buy I have a sweet potato/ apple recipe that is great and perfect for a heavy meal because it is light.

Bake some sweet potatoes (figure 1/3 to a 1/2 potato per person) Let cool until you can handle potato and scoop out contents into a bowl. Beat the potatoes a bit then add some apple cider. Keep beating and adding cider until potatoes have thinned and are getting close to not being able to absorb more cider. Spread potatoes into a pyrex or cassorole dish. You can either refridgerate the potatoes until ready to use ( I do this the night before) or go on to the next step.

Peel and core some apples ( I use Granny Smith) Slice thin. Lay apple slices on top of potatoes overlapping the slices a bit. Sprinkle some cinnamon sugar on top and dot with butter. Cover pan with foil and Bake in oven until hot.

Be back with the sweet potato recipe when I get a chance to dig it up

We do all of the cooking, and generally we do a turkey (I use Martha Stewart's Turkey 101 technique with the cheesecloth & wine/butter basting), gravy, cornbread dressing, garlic mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn casserole, rolls, green bean casserole (holdover from my childhood), jellied cranberry sauce, and then usually apple, pumpkin & pecan pies.

I'm in Texas, and I'm a huge fan of "wet" type cornbread dressing, but for some reason I could never get the recipe to come out right, no matter what I tried. Last year I tried this one and finally, exactly what I was looking for!

My husband isn't a dressing/stuffing eater, but he loved this one I made last year. It's very "man-friendly" with the smoky bacon and biscuits.

This is the corn casserole I make every year, minus the garlic powder & cheese. I found the recipe in an old church cookbook and tried it one year - everyone goes nuts over it. It's so easy it is almost laughable.
