Thumbs up The Serveware, Flatware, Stemware, Cookware Thread!!! Post what you have!

Hi all,
In the spirit of me trying to figure out my bridal registry....tell me what you have & if you recommend it or not!

I am leaning towards All Clad cookware, Wustoff knives, Vera Wang Love Knots fine china w/matching silverware, & I am unsure about everyday china & everyday glassware.

What do you have & what do you recommend? Post it all!

Mauviel Copper pot set (the loves of my life!)
Waterford crystal
Fiestaware - everday china in all different colors!
Henckel knives

We have the Vera Wang love knot champagne glasses that we used at our reception!

my advice - put EVERYTHING on your registry, that way if no one gifts it to you, you can buy it at a discount later on. (But you will be surprised at the generosity)

Thanks JSH812! I appreciate it!

We also have the Vera Wang Love Knots toasting flutes & cake serving set for our wedding, so we thught we would carry the theme with our fine china!

I took a look at the Fietsa Ware - so fun & colorful!
But for our everyday stuff, we definitely want something more traditional....and hopefully chip-resistant!

Anyone have anything by Mikasa? Do you like it?

Waterford stemware
Swarovski crystal champagne flutes
royal doulton Colors of Spring flatware (unfortunately after our wedding they discontinued this pattern!!!)
Wusthof knives
Mikasa casual flatware

Put everything you like on your registry! You'll really be surprized at the generosity of all your guests! We received almost all of our items! We were pleasantly surprized!

I'll find a picture of the flutes to post, they are so pretty and sparkly! The mikasa flatware is holding up GREAT. It's the garden harvest pattern. Use it every day and it still looks like the day we got them! Here is a link of the flutes! picture doesn't really do them justice.

oh! and for the top of our cake we had a pair of swarovski swans instead of a man and wife or anything like that. They looked fabulous on top of the cake! I've really got to post some pics....

We have the full Denby Jet Stripe set for plates, serving, etc. Our pots and pans are Gordon Ramsay by Royal Doulton and our stonewear is La Creuset.

WoW everything posh, the swarovski items are amazing! What a great idea for a cake topper - I'm sure I am not alone when I say post pics! lol
Good to know about the Mikasa flatware :)

absolutpink - how do you like the La Creuset stuff? I ahve been debating about adding these to the registry, but they are quite pricey....do you use it often & what for? They come in fun colors & different sizes - very tempting! Also, I see that you are a fellow Canadian...where did you register?

Thanks!

I love Global Knives
http://cgi.ebay.com/GLOBAL-Oriental-...QQcmdZViewItem

....a little expensive but a breeze to cut with....and they look great, not heavy. Le Creuset is quite heavy I would get a midsize Dutch oven for chicken and such and doubles great as a soup pot :) Anything higher than a midsize is heavy for me to put on the stove. (read: 4lbs)

I've gone through loads of cookware in the last ten years.... This is by far my most favorite pan:

11-3/4-inch enameled cast-iron skillet from Le Creuset.

It weighs a TON. It is perfect for frying, stir frying, sauteing, oven roasting. It is not non-stick, but with use the pan will become seasoned and sticking will no longer be an issue.

I don't ever use a lid with it, if I am frying I will cover it with a splatter shield.

I have acquired quite a few of the Le Creuset pieces, including a Dutch Oven and two pans from their stainless steel line.... I love them all.

I'm still in the process of building my collection, but so far here's what I have:

Wusthof: 5' and 7' Santoku knives (I am in love with them)

Le Creuset: Oval Dutch Oven, Wok, Stock Pot, Cast Iron Fry Pan, and some other really cool saucepan that has a small saute pan as the cover so you can actually cook with both parts (no clue what it is actually called). These are all black.

Lenox: Spyro Black service for 8. These are for everyday use. I got the place settings for like 12 dollars each (down from 75 I think) at the Lenox factory warehouse sale...I just couldn't pass them up! We still need to pick our pattern for our china.

Things I know I still need:
China
Glasses and Stemware (all...all I have are the mugs that came with my Lenox place settings)
Some stainless steel pans
Silverware

Not sure what else really...did I mention I love to cook?

I registered at both Macy's and Williams Sonoma. DON'T forget to sign up for the Star Rewards at Macy's. I got 5% back on all purchases that my GUESTS made, and they automatically sent me a giftcard after the wedding. YAHOO!

If you love to cook (as I do) here are the things that you CAN'T live without.

1) Kitchenaid Artisan Stand Mixer (totally worth the $$$)
2) Wusthof Knives (Henkels are phasing over to CHINA for manufacturing so I DON'T at all recommend them!)... GLOBAL are also nice; both GIADA D and TOP CHEF uses Global. The Santoku is the best, both small and large. NOTE: NO ONE will buy you the knives. A lot of people have the tradition that it symbolically "severs" a friendship (at least traditionally). Plan on buying them with your giftcards at a discount after the wedding.
3) FLATWARE from Williams Sonoma (Guy Degrassi or something... it's the BEST and it still looks brand new in my drawers!)
4) Le Cruset Pots from Williams-Sonoma. They are the BEST for cooking anything and everything. I agree with pp to get a medium sized round one and a smallish round one. TOTALLY worth the $$$. BEST POTS EVER cause they go in the oven, too.
5) Kate Spade China
6) Kate Spade Crystal (available at Macy's)... looks awesome.
7) I actually went with the Orrefors Intermezzo wine glasses as well as the "sentiments" by Mikasa for everyday. Waterford is nice, but too "heavy" for our style.

I'll post a picture of my silverware in a seperate post (if I can figure it out!). I love it!

Ambrosia--where was the Lenox warehouse sale? I have to check it out!

Let me know if you need any other "wedding advice", although I'm sure you're all over THE KNOT for that... I love that website and I even found my honeymoon spot through a recommendation on the knot. anyway, here's some pictures.

This is a nice mid-priced set:

Love the Stand Mixer, mine is red:
My flatware, LOVE it! "Beau Manoir"
