Butter is traditional American if I remember correctly. The food is prepared wonderfully.

I love the food at Butter.

The restaurant is tiny. Basically what you see in the picture is the number of tables they have.

Monday's downstairs is a really hot night.

For Sunday brunch:

Norma's in le Parker Meridian (probably the best brunch in New York)
Norma's

Serafina on 58st and Madison (very close to Barneys; it was mentioned in that awful name-dropping book, Bergdorf Blondes as the place European Royalty go to -- it is pretty Eurotrash, but in an upper crust sort of way)
Serafina Restaurant Group

Ciprani's Downtown (not really known for food, but for the seen-to-be-seen Eurotrash crowd)
Downtown
