And Freetoe...did you say recipe for cakes in the crockpot ???
I have a recipe book that came with my crock pot (it's HUGE) and there are recipes for cakes, desserts, it's crazy! I have not tried one yet, but they look to be easy.

Megs ~ that bread looks awesome. I'm going to try it!

I have a recipe for "Gorilla Bread" which is baked though. I got it from Food network, that Southern lady, what is her name? She made it with Jimmy Carter. It is absolutely sinful.

You will need a large, deep skillet for this one.
Brown 1 pound ground meat in skillet until no longer pink. Drain off fat.
Stir in 1 jar salsa, one cup of water, and mix well.
Stir is one box of your favorite small, shaped pasta.
Mix well and cover. Simmer until macaroni is tender.

During last few minutes, stir in about 2 tablespoons of sour cream. Serve with tortilla chips, salad.

We had two of our son's hockey team players live with us for a season and this was a favorite.

Edited to add: I'm giving this from memory, so you may have to adjust here and there.
mmm that sounds yummy! I gotta try that.

Found this recipe in a casserole book, and thought of you.

Hamburger stovetop casserole
1 pound ground beef
1 1/2 cup of water
1/2 teaspoon poultry sesoning
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 package brown gravy mix
1 medium onion, sliced and rings seperated
1 medium carrot, sliced
2 medium potatoes, sliced
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

In a large skillet brown ground beef; drain. Stir in water, poultry seasoning and pepper. Bring to a boil. Stir in gravy mix. Cook and stir for 2 minutes, or until slightly thickened.

Arrange Onions, carrots, and potatoes over beef. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Sprinkle with cheese. Cover and cook 3-5 minutes more, until cheese is melted.

This Cuisinart one looks nice, too:

The Cuisinart Classic Toaster Oven allows you to choose from several cooking methods: Conventional baking, toasting, or broiling. It comes with a slide-out crumb tray, 2-position oven rack baking/broiling pan, automatic shutoff, and a durable non-stick interior. The oven has a roomy one-half cubic foot capacity, large enough to bake a 5-pound chicken or 9-inch pie.

"It's So Useful!"... a typical comment from new owners of the Cuisinart toaster oven. These Cuisinart Classic models offer great features and versatility and they're well made, unlike the "throwaway" units prevalent at mass merchandisers. (The long, 3-year manufacturer's warranty attests to the quality of Cuisinart toaster ovens.) You'll find there's no handier or better way to broil hamburgers, make roasts, bake frozen pizza, potatoes, roast vegetables, you name it. The Cuisinart Classic Toaster Oven is fully capable of performing as your only oven, and makes a terrific second oven for added baking space... and its portability can be a big plus!
Useful Features of the Cuisinart Classic Toaster Oven:
  • Choice of two attractive designs
  • 0.5 cubic foot capacity
  • Durable, easy-to-clean interior
  • Temperature compensation provides consistent toasting, cycle after cycle
  • Large tinted glass door
  • Power-on LED indicator
  • 3 control dials for temperature control, function control, and toasting shade control
  • Broiling pan and drip tray
  • Slide-out crumb tray
  • Instruction/Recipe book
  • Limited 3-year manufacturer's warranty
Choose from two models:
  • Matte Black (top image at left) has black top & sides with brushed metal front panels. Our most popular model.
  • Brushed Stainless (lower image at left) has brushed stainless steel top & sides with black front panels.
