Default nutella recipe

Anyone have an idea on how to cut the intense (but good) rich taste of Nutella. I have the cream puff recipe from Paula Deen but I think it would taste better if cut with something--but what?

Hmm. I love the taste of nutella. I usually eat it with things. Like, pretzels, grahm crackers, english muffins, nilla wafers, whatever! I love that stuff. I've seen a few recipes but I can't remember what they are

unsweetened nutella may be your answer but I would think you would be able to dilute it with creamy things maybe something like cream cheese? good luck!

I agree w/ the others. Maybe the reduced fat cream cheese- starts with letter "n", can't remember the name b/c it is not very sweet or whipped cream that has not been sweetened.

Here is a great recipe for a nutella custard that cuts some of the sweetness. It makes 12-14, so you can half the recipe if you want. Check it often -it goes from done to curdled quickly, and sorry but I dont have the baking time.
Nutella Custard

2 cups cream
2 cups milk
1 cup nutella
3 eggs
6 egg yolks

Combine milk, cream and nutella in a pot, whisk , bring to a boil. Slowly whisk into eggs and yolks. Strain.
Pour into individual ramekins (4 oz. is best) place in a metal pan and fill the panwith water halfway up the ramekin. Bake at 325 degrees until it sets. Chill and serve with whipped cream.

Here is a nutella cream you could use in cream puffs.
Over a double boiler melt 6 oz. nutella with 1/2 cup cream. Cool. Fold in 1 cup whipped cream. Chill.

Grilled Banana and Nutella Panini

Ingredients
3 ripe bananas, sliced
12 slices whole-wheat bread
1 cup chocolate-hazelnut spread (recommended: Nutella)
16 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
3 tablespoons confectioners' sugar

Directions
Place the bananas in a bowl and mash until smooth.

Place the slices of bread on a flat surface and spread each slice with some of the hazelnut spread.

Spread the mashed banana over 6 of the slices and combine the slices to make 6 sandwiches.

Heat the grill to medium-high.

Spread 1 side of each sandwich with some of the butter and place on the grill, buttered-side down.

Grill until golden brown. Spread the remaining butter on the bread facing up, flip over and continue grilling until golden brown. Remove from the grill and sprinkle with the confectioners' sugar.

Chocolate Hazelnut Biscotti

Ingredients
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (recommended: Nutella)
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup chopped toasted hazelnuts

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

In a medium bowl combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In another medium bowl combine the butter, chocolate hazelnut spread, sugar, and brown sugar. Using an electric mixer, cream the ingredients together, about 4 minutes.

Add the egg and vanilla and beat until smooth, about 1 minute.

Using a wooden spoon or rubber spatula, stir in the flour mixture until just combined. Add the hazelnuts and stir until just combined.

Using a tablespoon measure, spoon out the cookie dough onto a cookie sheet, spacing the mounds about 4 inches apart. Use the tines of a fork to flatten the cookie dough.

Bake until lightly golden around the edges, about 10 to 12 minutes. Use a metal spatula to transfer the cookies to a wire rack and let cool.

^ That looks easy enough for me to do. Question though, does it have to be kosher salt?

Kosher salt is easy to find-in any grocery store. I use it in all my baking. It is better for cooking that the regular salt.

I thought there would be a recipe for actual nutella here. Isn't it just hazelnuts processed with unsweetened dark cocoa p, powder sugar and little oil ?
