Default no more drinks on our beach

one of the most wonderful parts of the summer for us...enjoying wine or margaritas with friends in the late afternoon...is over. our beach has an alcohol ban for the summer.

it started with a city beach, so all the idiots came to our beach...now here it is.

is this everywhere? i am heartbroken, yes we can still enjoy the shores, but having a relaxing dinner with some wine and friends...that is over for us.

I think this is everywhere in So Cal, but not sure. I know Malibu was pretty soft until the idiots showed up and started leaving trash and acting stupid.

I think most public beaches in WA state also ban alcohol. GM, is yours a private community or HOA beach?

public beach, and i didn't mean to say "our" beach...we live about 4 miles from it...it is definitely public, but i grew up a couple blocks from it...so it feels like home.

i see nothing wrong with adults having a beverage, it is so sad that losers have to ruin it for everybody.

^^ Gotcha. How awesome to grow up so close to a beach! I agree, too bad a few ruin it for the rest.

Can you mix your beachy drinks (margaritas, lemonade/vodka, etc.) at home and bring them to the beach in a sealable plastic tupperware or rubbermaid pitcher like this?

We always bring ours in this way with some cups.

Yes, as a summertime beach-goer I've done this too or even sneaked a few beers into a cooler along with sandwiches and other munchies. The beach I spend the most time at has a lot of sand dunes and beach grass so you can really hide out if you want and eat/drink whatever you wish.

^yeah, i am sure we will find a way.

it just seems ridiculous as adults...i feel i have earned my place in life to sit on the beach with a beverage, not have to hide it like a teenager

Yeah I understand they ban it on 4th of July. I live in San Diego and one year in college went to PB on the 4th-what a mess!

I usually only go the beach in Del Mar and I think we've been dry for a while. It's sort of silly, but with so many kids just getting tanked that are underage I guess I get it.

I live in SD too! Gucci-are you in Carlsbad? Too funny. Yeah I agree. My friend told me that the key to sneaking is to NEVER use red cups.. It's a giveaway. She gets tall soda bottles, dumps them out, then refills it with the beverage.. Works every time.. Good luck!

I've been playing this game for a long time. If you are discreet, you should be able to get away with it. Next time you're out on that beautiful west coast beach, drink a cheer to me, stuck on the east coast(at least near a beach), but longing for ca!

In New Jersey it's a mix...

There are completely dry beaches / shore towns....towns that have liquor right on the boardwalk, but you can't bring it onto the beach....and my FAVORITE towns that will serve you mojiots, mimosas, screw drivers, miami vices and pina coladas right at your beach chair!!

The ones where they have a place where they make it, and carry it out to you is roped off from the neighboring beach...no one under 21...and it usually may be an $8 charge to get on the beach...even if the beach next to it with no liquor is $5

I go to a beach on cape cod and we definitely aren't supposed to drink on the beach. Of course, we can be pretty uptight here in "bahston". :)
