This thread is great for reference. I am going to Japan in May this year for the first time. I love how all the sweets look and my DH is going to be in heaven with all the wonderful food!

Can I ask, where in Tokyo do I buy Tokyo banana? Are they in the department stores or is there special places you have to buy them?

I tried them about 7 years ago when a friend bought some back and I have been craving them since. LOL!!!

pig out in tokyo 2009 has commenced!!!! i got in last night, but due to the time difference, i'm wide awak at 4am japan time. so here's the food i've been nibbling on so far.

*note: for some reason some of my pics are too large to upload. so for now i'll just link to my flickr acct. til i get back and resize.

lunch on the plane: cold pork salad with a ponzu dressing and chicken with oyster sauce.

snack before landing: ham and cheese sandwich with a scoop of macaroni salad. also on the side: chocolate cookie!

after we arrived at our hotel in shinjuku, i just had to partake in one of my favorite food/shopping activities: DEPACHIKA (department store basement) food! our loot:

ebi donburi!

some kind of chicken. what it tasted like to me was a mayonnaise-ish korean friend chicken...YUM!

natto and negi toro rolls!

crab chirashi!
