Default Meal Assembly Places

Has anyone ever gone to one of those places where they do all the prep work for you and you go and enjoy a glass of wine while assembling all your meals (you select the ones you want) and then take them home, freeze them and have good, home-cooked, nutritious meals?

I am going to one Friday night and this is my menu and pricing. The prices seem really good as the half sizes serve 2 - 3 people and I am a single gal so each of these should feed me for one dinner and one lunch the next day.

1 x Half Size: Chicken Lo Mein: $12.25
1 x Half Size: Firecracker Quesadillas: $12.25
1 x Half Size: Parmesan Chicken Fingers: $12.25
1 x Half Size: Sole with Pineapple Salsa: $12.25
1 x Half Size: Sun Dried Tomato Chicken Breasts: $13.00
1 x Half Size: Thai Shrimp: $13.00

1 x Half Size: Asparagus With Creamy Orange Vinaigrette: $8.00
1 x Half Size: Sesame Green Beans: $8.00

I'd love to hear any feedback on these kind of places if anyone has gone.

I've been to one called Entrees Made Easy. The food was very tasty. The ingredients were good quality. I had a lot of fun with a group of friends putting my meals together. It was nice to just pull something out of the freezer and not have to really think about what to make for dinner. I think it was a bit expensive, but worth the convenience.

I go to Dream Dinners regularly and I love it! Definitely worth the money IMO!

I've gone to Dream Dinners and wasn't that impressed. The portions they gave were small (I could eat what they considered two portions, and I'm a small girl), and the recipes were super simple. For example, their steak w/garlic butter consisted of me putting steaks into a bag, then mixing butter with powdered garlic and putting that in a bag. So simple that I questioned why I was paying a premium to do it there! Most of their dishes don't come with sides, so I end up having to go to the grocery store and buying those too. Taste wise, some were better than others, but all in all it was just "okay." We still have a few dishes taking up space in my freezer, and it's been over a year since I made them! (Ugh...I should probably throw them out now.)

There's another one that just opened near me called Entree Vous...I like it much better because there is no minimum to purchase (so I don't have to have a whole bunch of frozen meals like Dream Dinners made me have), so I can just prepare that night's dinner and head home. The portions were much larger and several of their meals come with sides (no more extra stops on the way home, yay!). Taste wise is still just "okay" but for a night where I am too busy to make a real meal, it works! So I guess my point is to research and test out different places...some are better than others.

I've been interested in these places, simply because I don't feel like cooking many nights. I know how to cook quite well, but I am single, so there is no one that depends on me for meals. I wonder if it would actually encourage me to eat a meal every night, instead of just the munching I do many times b/c I don't feel like cooking for one. The prices seem high to me though. Convenience cost, I guess.

I went Friday night and found it to be quite enjoyable. Not having to buy all the ingredients and chop everything up was great. I ate the first meal last night and it was very tasty.

I do think now after seeing the portions that not all dishes are worth the price, even for the convenience. Some certainly are, but not all.

I will probaby go back but only to make dishes that have a lot of ingredients where it makes sense to do it there rather than to buy all the various ingredients and then end up throwing most of them out as they don't get used up.
