Default Maggiano's?!*~

Hello,

The family is taking me out to Maggiano's to celebrate my college graduation this upcoming weekend. However, I have never been- wasn't even my choice!

So, what is good?? Any suggestions.... the menu is quite an undertaking!

Thanks!

I love Maggiano's, excellent food and service. I can't recall a dish off of the top of my head that I really like, but I don't recall ever getting anything bad either. Maggiano's is very family friendly. I wonder if that's why it was chosen. Where did you want to go? If you think it's not a big deal, perhaps you can talk to your parents about changing it?

I have tried the Bombalina platter and it was great! I love the Zucchini with the lemon sauce. I used to get Ravioli with tomato vodka sauce . I do not see it on the menu so it may be something I asked if they could make . They do have gnocci with tomato vodka. The sauce was delicious. One of my favorite items from any restaurant. My b/f at the time loved the chicken parm.

When I go with my family, we get the "Family Style" meal. So you get to pick x amount of appetizer, salad, entree, desert from that menu. Another thing that they don't advertise, is that you can get second helpings. Which we were never charged for. Overall quite tastey, but be prepared for a food coma afterwards.

Thanks for the help so far! My sister and her hubby love the joint, and thought the whole "family style" would be great! I honestly couldn't care less, it's one meal and I am viewinig it as a gift! If the fam is treating, I'd like to be assured that they are content.

However, we are doing the family style thing and I am being "forced" to choose the menu! Very daunting and I've already turned down the offer-- but they insist!

Don't sweat it, there are lots of diff. options so there is something for everyone. I do recommend the fish of the day though.

I know, isn't it crazy that I am slightly stressing over this! I am just trying to make everyone happy and I thought I might get a general consesus from TPF as to what was good!

I have thus far narrowed down the appetizers to Stuffed 'shrooms and the Calamari.

My room mate from college lives in St. Louis now and when I went last year we tried Maggiano's. I still like my home cooked Italian and little tiny places but Maggiano's is chain Italian and much better than a place like Olive Garden, for example. I feel like it's in the PF Changs family type restaurant you know?
Anyway, one opened here after I got back from St. Louis and we like the:

Maggiano's Salad
Rigatoni D (sister likes this)
Gnocci Vodka

I tried a friend's eggplant parm and thought it was "okay" and one time we had these "onion strings" which were amazing!

That's all I can think of at the moment. I have never had room for dessert to try it there!

I haven't been there in awhile, but from what I can remember, definitely get the Maggiano's Salad and their creme bruelee. Delicious!

There is a deep-fried zucchini appetizer... YUM!

My favorite is the Rigatoni D. Hubby likes the Spaghetti with meatballs.

Do the family style and get the maggiano's salad, the bruchetta, the salmon, the ravioli,
and for dessert- nonna's pound cake or the profitteroles. Yum, I just gained 5 pounds thinking about it. Enjoy, it is fun.
