Question Low Fat Salad Dressing?

Can anyone recommend a tasty low fat salad dressing? I'm totally addicted to salads but I need a good tasting low fat dressing. I usually prefer Italian salad dressings or ceaser type dressings.

Try not to think about creamy style dressings. That's where the fat and calories show up.

Instead, think very flavourful vinegars and mustards with herbs and/or garlic thrown in.

Balsalmic vinegars - red, white, and black

Wine vinegars - red, white, yellow, and Asian - as in rice.

Mustards: French's, Dupion, herb-infused mustard, many others.

Herbs and garlic:
Take your pick from what is fresh at your store. Use dried herbs and fresh garlic in winter.

How about just going to Safeway or Albertsons's and looking around - they have a bunch of fat free dressing that are very low calories per serving. Trader Joes have some very tasty too that are like 35 calories per 1 oz.

So true! Why do the creamy ones have to be so good? lol

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm heading out to Safeway tomorrow. I'll have to see what they got.

There are so many good flavored balsamic vinegars now.... I like Fig with Blood Orange infused Olive oil, and I recently bought Strawberry vinegar that I paired with Lime infused Olive Oil.... Yummy!!!

You should see if there are any Olive Oil stores in your area.... This is the one I go to, everything is available for tasting.....

^Thanks! Those sound so yummy! I'm not sure if we have an Olive Oil store here. I'll have to check the phone book.

i usually make my own.

my favorite:
1 part extra virgin olive oil
1 part rice vinegar (any vinegar will do)
1 squeeze of fresh orange juice
sugar, salt & pepper to taste.

you can also substitute the orange juice with lemon.

I ADORE these dressings!! We usually get the bluecheese and i thin it out with a little water. They are so tasty and relatively low in calories.

Darn!! I just searched and no store within 50 miles of where I live has it.
Does anyone know if Wild Oats can order products for you? I'm just dying to try this dressing.
