That is one fabulous cake. What a wonderful memory you have created for your little girl. Bravo to you and a big happy birthday to your dear daughter.

Today we attended a BBQ at my dd's friends house, so last night (around 10pm) I thought about a "burger cake" and attempted to make one. We were meant to buy a cake to bring over to the BBQ, but I decided that a "burger cake" might be more fun for the children (there were 6 children, aged between 2 and 8).

I used the same recipe as for the cake I made for dd's birthday and used vanilla buttercream icing for all the pretend condiments + chocolate buttercream icing for the pretend meat. It's not perfect (this is my first attempt & am getting addicted to baking? LOL), but the kids seemed to like it.

Here's a pic:

here's my latest experiment (i'm just a sahm who has lately picked up a new baking hobby). it's dh's 29th birthday and since he mentioned dr.seuss, i decided to try this theme. it's not the greatest, but the kids loved it (we went to seuss landing @ universal studio's florida for dd's birthday).

the "cat in the hat" is made of rice krispies and decorated with buttercream icing. i couldn't find black food coloring, so i used chocolate buttercream instead. the actual b'day cake was vanilla sponge cake.

Those look great! And I make cakes for a living.

I am so glad you made homemade. Please everyone take the extra few minutes to make a homemade cake rather than a box cake! They taste so much better and the ingredients are much better for you!

No, not "just a sahm". You are obviously so much more ... and your cakes are fabulous.
