Has anyone tried this?

http://www.toddycafe.com/customerser...structions.php

I spend so much $ on iced coffee from either starbucks or DD...

Or am I missing an easier way of making it at home?

I happen to be enjoying an iced latte right now....

I have an espresso machine.... However, you could make them with any strong coffee.....

This is how I make mine:
  1. Steam about 28oz milk. Pour into pitcher.
  2. Pull 6 double shots of espresso, dumping each shot into the pitcher when it is ready.
  3. Add 12 pumps of French Vanilla syrup. Then I sometimes add 1oz Almond Roca syrup.
  4. Let lattes cool in pitcher a few hours. Put in fridge to begin enjoying next day.

This give me 4-5 good size iced lattes. I also like to freeze ice cubes made from about a 50/50 mix of espresso and water. I use a few regular cubes and a few of the espresso cubes in my iced lattes so it doesn't get too watered down as the ice melts.

I bought a great pitcher for these from Container Store:

I got the short, fat 68oz one, it fits almost anywhere in my fridge. Here's a pic:

I'd just make coffee the usual way I want, but use 2/3 the hot water. When done I'd add crush ice.

I've posted this before...but I'll add:

Hubby likes frappacinos so when I have left over coffee I freeze it in ice cube trays. I just put the milk in the blender and the coffee ice cubes I quick buzz and he has his frappacino for pennies rather the $4!

i have a question, why do you steam the milk...if it is going to be refrigerated anyhow. does this make a difference?

wouldn't it just be the same effect as putting cold milk into it?

not sure, just wondering....i hate the process of steaming milk.

I didn't know you needed all that fancy stuff to make iced coffee I like to make coffee, put milk in, let it cool and then plop some vanilla ice cream in it. Delicious!!

I've just come back from Greece, the land of the frappe! They make it using Nescafe - I've brought some back with me but Im not sure if regular nescafe in other countries works the same. Basically what they do is.. a tablespoon of nescafe coffee add equal amounts of sugar depending on how sweet you like it. Add a little bit of cold water and either shake it by hand or use a frother until it becomes very frothy then add water and/or milk to taste and ice. It tastes great and is soo easy to make..But im still not 100% sure if it would work with regular nescafe, the nescafe I picked up there looks exactly the same though.
Other than that I would brew up some coffee and add cold milk for a similar effect, I too can never be bothered to steam the milk first.

I usually just use regular coffee, add some cream, a bit of sugar, and ice. Easy and cheap!

Steaming the milk increases the amount of air in the milk, making it less dense, and it also sweetens the milk.

Does it make a difference? Probably not a huge one, it's just my preference.

I just make a pot of strong coffee, add Silk hazelnut creamer, some powdered sugar (it mixes better than granulated), chocolate syrup, and ice. Really cheap and easy.

While i do understand your point about how it alters the milk, rapidly cooling mile like that from hot to cold (likewise adding cold milk to hot milk) promotes bacterial growth and can make you sick.

But I like to live dangerously..... I also brew iced tea with only the power of the sun, and defrost meat on the counter....
