Default Best Pepper Grinder?

Hello, Fabulous TPFers! Hubby was just complaining that in all his life, he's never been satisfied with a pepper grinder and he'd like to find a really, really great one. And I said, well, I'll check the purse forum, because I'm sure someone in the kitchen section can tell me because we know everything. Now, can someone help?

Interesting question.... I'm not totally satisfied either.... I use two in my kitchen, both by Trudeau. One is a traditional sort, kinda short with a chrome exterior. It grinds really nicely, and it hold a fair bit so I would guess I fill it every 2-4 weeks (I use a lot of pepper daily). The other is the automatic model, where when you flip it over it grinds. I really like this one when cooking, so if I am trying to flip meat and pepper it, I can use one hand to flip and the other to grind.

My biggest regret with this pepper mill is it doesn't hold a lot of peppercorns, so I am constantly refilling it, which requires removing the stopper on the bottom, then removing the portion that holds in the battery, filling it, and putting it all back together. That said, I still love it and use it daily.

I find in the kitchen I am not satisfied having just one of anything, I need at least two or three. I have a salt mill, and a salt pig. At least a dozen good knives. Two of every pot and pan (one non-stick and one stainless). If someone knows of a truly awesome peppermill, I am ready to add a third!

I would also like a really decent salt mill. I had one from OXO that made extremely fine salt, but it was discontinued and mine broke.

Thanks, Pidgeon! This seems to be a well-received grinder! Maybe we were too married to the idea of a mill grinder where you have to turn the handle.

Does anyone have or heard of the magnum unicorn pepper grinder? I found it when I was looking at the link Pidgeon gave me, and people seem to love it.
