4th of July cake. sheet cake with strawberries and bluberries as your stars and stripes. You can make the cake with angel food cake mix, use apple sauce instead of oil, low sugar frosting and then the fruit. Good and healthy! And festive!

Where is the fish?? We love grilled jumbo shrimp, scallops, and lobster!

But, if you're sticking with the classics, where is the Sweet Corn and baked beans?

My husband birthday is the 4th of July, so we always have a big party. I try to do different menu's each year. We've done steak shish kabobs, pork tenderloin, salmon, Hawaiian chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs, brats, carne asada, oysters, and shrimp. I usually make fresh salsa, but with the tomato problem that won't be served. I've made strawberry spinach salad for a few years now and everyone loves it. We always make homemade vanilla ice cream and chocolate cake with camel frosting. I'm not sure what our meat will be this year. I'd love to do ribs, but they are not my husband favorite. My kids want me to do beer can chicken, but we'd need at least 6 chickens. Seems like a lot of work.

grill some veggies...eggplant, yams, mushrooms (portabello), bell peppers, onions, asparagus, zucchini, squash....you can marinate and skewer them if you want. oh, and don't forget to slap some juicy pork chops on the grill too

have fun and enjoy!

I'm hosting my first party for the 4th of July (I just got a new house, yahoo!) and I wrote down my menu so I won't forget anything. Here it is! If you need/want recipes for anything, just ask! I make everything myself, I'm kindof a stickler for food and i have the summer off!

Appetizers:
Italian Pickeled Veggies, also called "Giardiniera" (1 huge jar of spicy and 1 mild)
Marinated artichoke salad
Roasted Red peppers
Marinated Olive salad (with fennel and orange zest, YUMMY)
Marinated Anchovies (don't knock them till you try them!)
Grilled and Chilled Asparagus, Zucchini, and Squash
Homemade hummus and pita chips
Mozzarella and Tomato salad

Dinner:
Chicken Wings (Asian style)
Broccolini and Bean salad
Asian Ramen and Cabbage Slaw
Macaroni Pasta Salad
Baked Beans with BBQ Sauce, Turkey Bacon, and Worstechire (sp)
Grilled Chicken
Swordfish Kabobs
Salmon

Drinks:
MOJITOS! (I LOVE THEM!)
Mango Margaritas
Strawberry Margarita's
Strawberry Lemonaide

WOW that Sounds like a lot! Oh, yeah, dessert. Chocolate Trifle and Strawberry Shortcake. I LOVE cooking! I have 25 people coming over. :)
