Default BENTO for kindergarten?
my soon to be 5 years old has started her kindergarten last Wednesday, and on Monday she'll be starting her full day school, i'm very worries and nervous because she's an extreme slow and picky eater, i have the BENTO receipe books, BENTO box, and others accessories ready for her BENTO lunch, does any tpfer makes BENTO for their kids too? will this isolate them from other kids? i'm such a nervous and worries mom

I'm not a mom, but I think the other kids might think it was cool! Especially at that age- kids don't seem to get as catty to one another until a bit older (I have a brother in his teens, just what I have noticed). I'd just pack what you think she'll actually eat and is good for her.

Do you have a pic of that particular lunchbox? I don't see why not! It's less wasteful, too, rather than all the disposable packaging.

The NY Times had an article on bentos for lunch, both for kids and adults! I hope this helps.

I bet the other kids will think it's really neat - I do!! A great idea for the big kids here at tPF who pack their meals, too!

I didn't learn about Bento's until I joined TPF but my mom made me "Picky Plates" when I was younger which usually consisted of rolled up turkey, vegetables, cheese and/or some fruit. Same concept I guess. I was never picked on because of it. I think it would be even cooler if you decorated it all fancy.

I love the idea of the little sausage octopuses! Adorable, and such healthy lunches too!
