I tried it a few years back in FL and really liked it, with the little side sauce.

I love gator! Gator tail is best if it is soaked in milk overnite to remove the "river" taste, then cut into chunks, battered & deep fried. Love it with hot sauce!
I live in an area where there is an overabundance of them~ they're in the river at our house, in the ponds, everywhere. My brother & mom went fishing in one of the ponds a couple of weeks ago, and had a 4 foot one following the boat. He finally wound up eating the bait and getting hooked. I've seen them as big as 10 or 12 foot long in the river in front of our house, and this year DNR is issuing permits to hunt them. It's about time, since locals around here have had to resort to disposing of them for years the "not-so-legal" way. I also love frog legs...anyone else??? ![]()

I love frog legs too! I don't consider them weird, though.

I had cow tongue and I must say I wasn't crazy about it at all. I believe one of the reasons is I couldn't get over the fact that I was eating a tongue.

I grew up in the south AND with a mom that was raised on a farm so I've eaten my share "weird" things - cow tongue, stomach, gator, rabbit, frog legs, etc. I don't think it's "weird" though.
Now eating bugs on the other hand........

I love alligator, I had no idea it was weird. Bat is maybe a little weird, but then somebody else will come along and be all, Bat? weird? Come on! We have fried bat every Tuesday. What's weird is cheese!

Gator, Escargot, Bison, and Ostrich here. I thought they were all pretty good. I had the gator in New Orleans and it was yummy. Snail is one of my faves when they are put inside a marinated mushroom cap w/ some parm.

Hmm. I've never eaten gator, but I've eaten Escargot, and Goat meat, Venison (not that uncommon really, along with Buffalo meat and a few other "uncommon" meat that most people don't really eat) I'll get to try Moose meat for the first time since I've moved to Alaska, my SO is going to go hunting
