If you go into specifics of EXACTLY what you want, I would be more than willing to pick some things up for you and ship them!! I am a Chicago native, but spent the last 8 years in AZ, so I know what it is like to long for some chicago delicacies! I am currently in INdy and have access to the majority of the Chicago items.

I've bought from Tastes of Chicago as well as some Maryland crab cake companies. You're right in that the bulk of the cost is shipping, but it's because they have to package it all in a container with dry ice, and then overnight to your house before the dry ice melts. If you've ever overnighted a large package, you know how high shipping can get. But that's for perishable frozen items...if you're just talking about a can of peppers or relish, definitely try to get someone to just wrap it up and mail it to you. :)

That's so sweet of you to offer for her :)

I have only ordered things that are real specialties, hard to find things.

If you consider snacks food... yes I order them online from Hokkaido in Japan sometimes through eBay.

I have purchased online from Harry & David and the pears were well worth it. The rest of it was not. As for the shipping, it gets quite pricey. I would pay it and indulge once in a while though, considering the price of gas these days too. This particular chocolate shop I like is an hour away so if I am going there just for the chocolate, it would cost me over $30 in gas, so why not pay $12 for the shipping right?

Maybe you can find a discount code online for where you are ordering from and save that way?

You can buy neon food coloring. But isn't there something special other than the color about this relish.

Just FreshDirect for groceries. Most of it is pretty good and I've even had ice-cream and meat delivered.

I have ordered from HomeBistro a few times. They send you entire meals that are frozen in bags and you simmer the bags in hot water to thaw out the food. It sounds wierd but the food is actually really good! If you factor in shipping and the cost of the meals, it's about what you pay at a Coco's or similar restaurant, and the food is just as good if not better. I like to keep a few around for nights when I'm too lazy to cook.
