Default White/Yellow Gold Watch?
I don't know if this has been specifically addressed, but how do you know if you look better with white or yellow gold. Does it depend on skin tone or wardrobe. I am debating about getting a new watch. I currently have a ss/white gold Rolex with white face and a Cartier Classic Tank with a black crocodile strap, gold face and white dial. So confused now...I would love to trade in both for one really nice watch. Any suggestions?
I'm thinking of Patek, but not sure if it's a wise move.

I am going to assume either looks good on you if you have a yellow gold and a white gold watch? Your best bet is probably to try on watches in both colors and see which you prefer on best. You could also maybe get a two tone watch. I have a two tone Omega constellation and one of the things I love about it, is that it goes with whatever color gold I may be wearing that day. :)

Thanks rubyjuls...I will take a look at the two tone Omega Constellation! It's so confusing.

I was just thinking...I had a gold/ss Rolex for a long time and then traded in in for the ss/white gold bezel Rolex. I really would love to stick to one metal if that's at all possible.

In that case, if you want one metal but are not sure which one you'd prefer, the best bet is probably going to a watch store to try a bunch of different ones on. I find some styles look nicer in certain metals.

If you want to stick with one metal and want one fabulous watch, I would go with what you mostly wear for your other jewelry. What is your wedding ring like and your favorite necklaces, earrings ect? What color hardware is on your favorite handbags. For me I wear both so I like to have a watch wardrobe. I have a simple Rolex datejust, a Cartier 2 tone Panthere, a Chanel J12 in black with diamond number markers and a fun Michele with lots of diamonds and changeable bands. The only thing I'm missing is a gorgeous watch for dressy, my favorites are out of my budget for now.

A watch wardrobe is a good idea lakeharper...maybe I should just stick with what I have which is the ss Rolex and yellow gold Tank Louis Cartier w/black croc band.

I have to agree with lakeharper that having a watch wardrobe is fun. I have three 'good' watches. A two-tone Movado, a two-tone Omega constellation with diamond bezel/markers and a ss Michele mini deco with diamonds. I love all three and wear which ever one strikes me mood each day.

If you love and enjoy the two watches you have now, you should keep them. You can always still save up for a third watch eventually (I'm saving up for a fourth one myself atm).

I think you should keep the ones you have now, and save up for another one in the future.

I think it's wise to have a pure stainless/white gold watch (for your white gold/platinum jewelry) AND a two-tone watch (to wear with gold jewelry). I'm not a fan of pure yellow gold watches.
