I have a ring that I LOVE that is white gold. I've had it for about five years and I realize now that white gold turns yellow with time but I was hoping to find out if it was possible to have my ring dipped in wg or rhodium to bring it back to the white look that it had new.
I would ask a jeweler around me but all I'm aware of are jewelry stores. I have no idea how to locate a reputable jeweler that could help me. Any suggestions?? |

You can have it rhodium plated, and it'll look good as new. White gold jewelry is rhodium plated to make it look bright and shiny, and the plating wears off over time, so you just have to take it in for a little maintenance.

Yep! It is very simple & not very costly (at least where I live)....it's just part of WG maintenance :)

I think any of the jewelery stores should be able to do it.

Related, but not totally on topic- can you have a jeweler do this w/ an actual yellow gold ring or would you have to actually just change the setting? Just curious...

Just take it into any reputable jeweler and they should be able to do it. My ring is 18K white and I've had it replated a lot. It's my wedding set...it's very cheap, too, and looks brand new. Yes, yellow gold can also be plated to white.

I have had YG dipped before, and it does make it look like WG, but it turns faster...it also tends to get a strange spotting to it.
And to OP, any jeweler can dip it for you and I have never paid more than $25...some will even do it for free. |
