I know. I'm going to go to my local jeweler to see the difference in size. DH wants to get me a 2 CT, which was what he originally wanted to get me when we got engaged, but it was me who wanted to split the 2 cts into 2 pieces (one for the ering and other for the pendant to be sort of different) and also in those days, we would have gotten a less quality 2cts since we were in the process of buying our first home together. Now, he wants me to have a 2 cts for our 15th anniversary...sooner if we find THE ONE. But, no matter what, the original ering will always be my favorite, as it symbolizes our love for each other and life together. And after what you said, I've decided to wear it 'til death do us part instead of giving it to my son. Perhaps make it into an earring and wear the upgrade on my left ring finger.

i totally forgot i wrote in this post lol

2ct F VS2 should be just fine. I would go with those specs. Even G is still considered very white to the naked eye. Actually you might even be able to get away with a Si1 but no lower due to black carbons.. In smaller stones Si2 or even i1 is just fine since smaller stones have smaller facets which hide flaws.

My bf is getting me a SiG.. aka Si1/Si2 G color =P he came up with that word all by him self..

btw the whole earring idea would work great since u have 2 very similar stones. or even a nice 3 stone for the 25th anniversary?

Are you still planning on getting a heart? Now that I own one, it's quite nice and unique. My friend has one set in platinum surrounded by diamonds halos. She gets lots of compliments.

I'm still shopping around. I need to try on several sizes to see what looks the best on my finger. If I can do 2.99 cts., it's something to consider also, but at bigger size, it's hard to find H&A, which is my 1st. priority at this point.

Yeah my bf has his mind set on a heart shape. I think i will go for the V bottom prong and the one single prong on each side. But i wont be getting his for a few years so i have tons of time to search. H&A price is out of my range but i wish you best of luck in your search.

When i went into tiffanys i tried on a 1.20 and it was huge to me, then i tried on a 1.0 and it was still pretty big, then i tried on a .75 and that seemed like a good size on me. I dont have tiny fingers nor bony ones.. I wear a 5-6 depending on my weight and weather. My finger is umm 2 3/4 inches long and 10/16th wide.

I've always had it in my mind that 1ct was the ideal size to have.

Sinniebunnie,

You have such a big heart and a great sense of value. I admire that in young people. Some young girls I work with, are too into big rocks regardless whether their BFs can afford them. A friend of mine proposed to this girl a decade ago with a 1 ct., and she threw it back at him, telling him she would not take less than 2 cts. I felt so sorry for him, as at that time, he just finished school and been in his career for less than 6 months. He could barely stand on his own feet without his parents' help. Your BF is so lucky to have found you. Good luck in your search as well.

You should talk to Jon at GOG about those stones. He has THE eye and can give you a better scope to select from if you have specific specs in mind

""i hope i get a big heart"" lol

i guess it does seem odd that i do not want a huge stone. my .42 seems just fine for me but since it was a budget stone its not the best. H i1 to be exact. it was 550$ at my shane co. i actually picked it out because it was a good size for the money and the flaws are semi hidden due to the facets. i learned in smaller stones color is #1 then clarity (smaller stones, tighter facets) i was amazed that an i1 can look this good. there are no horrible clouds and the stone isnt speckled. i was offered an upgrade in color and clarity but i turned it down (shocker huh)

btw how did you know i was young? i am 22 =) and i have been with my bf for 3.5yrs, no marriage until we both finish school and have a stable job (then he can afford my ~1ct heart heh)

Which settings looks better? 2 prong + V or the 5 prong one?

btw i found a 1.01 G SI2 for 4400. i was looking on craigslist and saw an add for a ring from shaneco that i can return for store credit and use it towards my purchase lol.. its sad that the ring was rejected but great for me if i want to save a little. its 2500 credit for 1300. i bet i can get it for 1000.. i can save 1500 on my stone =) 3000 plus a band presentation band and tax is still about 3400 for the ring.

Bad thing about hearts is that.. some are fat and some are skinny. thats another thing i have to consider when i look at stones.. i rather have it a little fat then skinny looking. a perfect ratio one will be hard to find since shane co doesnt really do ratios like bluenile.

I like 3 prong better, as it retains the heart shape better. Mine has 3.

Hello, burberry, I find that different people like different things in their diamonds. For me, the white light return is the most important followed by clarity then color. Even if you have a diamond that's graded in the D-F category, it's the light return that makes it "look white" under a lot of wearing conditions.

I would ask someone to look at these stones for you. Either the vendor selling it or get it sent to an independent appraiser ( there are several mentioned on Pricescope) and get someone to advise you depending on what you want in your stone. From what I see on Pricescope the dealers there are very good about helping the customers even with minute details and preferences with their stones. Just tell them what is important to you.

Some people like large and that's most important, some want white, some want clarity, and some want it all!

Thanks! Yes, I'm among those who want it all.
