Hi all!
I wish the photos did the antique setting justice! I will be doing a new photo shoot of the ring this week and will send Baglady pics and video to help with her decision. Baglady, the one thing I would ask you to consider is how big of a look you want. At 2.34cts, the cushion is sizeable and a halo will make it look positively humongous (in a good way!) I actually had a 2.64ct in a halo and later upgraded to a 3.64ct cushion which I set in a bezel 5 stone (no halo). General feedback was that the smaller stone in the halo looked way bigger than the 3.64 - everyone thought I had downsized! So a halo will really add weight to a stone. The vintage setting is more understated. It's a matter of preference and what your goal is, finger coverage-wise. |

PS - not sure how sentimental you are, but perhaps you can wear the vintage setting for awhile, then if (when!) shrinkage sets in, do a reset into a halo :) The vintage setting can always be sold later - there's always a market for those.

^^ LOL I thought you might find my post here! I am thinking the exact same thing! Keep it the way it is and if I am still head over for the halo change it later. For all, I will post those new pics/vids

i just wanted to tell you that you can put an antique stone in a modern setting quite well, but you might like the antique setting, try it for a while, you can always change it down the road! I have a 3.25 ct 100+ yr old european cut round/cushion set in a very modern stuart moore tiffany style platinum setting. I do love it but kinda long to see what it would have looked like in my DH's Grandma's original setting but my MIL wore it before me and reset it when she received it 45+ years ago....i'd hate to see you feel that way too in 10-20-30 years....

I think the halo looks better out of those two settings, antiques are lovely but the reason I luv diamonds is because of the sparkle they put out and in my opinion antique settings don't sparkle enough for me... either way I'm sure u will make the perfect choice for yourself!
