Exclamation Where's the Tiffany's marketing campaign???

There is not really a huge debate here. I just want to know one thing.

Where is the Tiffany's marketing campaign? ? ?

I’m a 25 year old male that lives in the San Francisco East bay area. I go to work. I come home. I write. I sleep. I go out and shop for food. I have never in my life seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I have never in my life seen a Tiffany’s ad in a magazine or on TV (I don’t read girl magazines…) I discovered Tiffany’s from walking around mall in San Jose.

Tiffany's marketing campaign??? Where? Me, as a regular male, in my world…unless I looked it up, or someone told me…How would I never know about Tiffany’s? I see no ad’s on the internet. No banners! No billboards! No bus stops!

Word of mouth is not a marketing campaign. I’m really 100 % honestly concerned here. People love to speak about this Tiffany's marketing campaign…But maybe it’s Top Secret or something??? Is the Tiffany's marketing campaign in area 51? Is that what they are doing in the Nevada test site? Is it on the back of Venus?

Thank you. . .

Any magazines that a MAN would read? I have never in my life seen 1. Don't get me wrong. I have just bought my girlfriend a e-ring from Tiffany's in Palo Alto...But I have still never in my life seen 1 ad.

I suspect my DH would agree with you. He had no idea what Tiffany's was until I took him shopping with me.

I don't think they advertise nearly as much as other retailers and jewelers do so I understand your point.

Best wishes on your engagement!

Go buy something there and they'll market you to death!! I've noticed a sharp uptick in their marketing lately, probably because business has slowed due to the economy. I receive a paper catalog from them weekly now, and 2-3 email ads per week. If they keep this up, they may start outdoing Victoria's Secret in volume of catalogs/emails!!

Here in NY we see ads for Tiffany's on bus stops pretty often. They are in New York magazine, Vanity Fair, NY Times, lots of magazines and newspapers, not to mention in fashion magazines.

i think there's more marketing in NYC for tiffany's b/c the flagship is here. but, tiffany's is famous more by reputation, not by advertising. most jewelrs are.

Yep -- they are sending me catalogs right and left now and I've only purchased from them about six times over a span of about two years -- my biggest purchase only being around $200.

They advertise in our local papers here. I usually see an add on the 2nd or 3rd page. Occasionally they'll do a full page "Tiffany blue" advert on the last page of a major section.

I don't read men's mags so i can't comment that way. My DH bought me my 1st piece of Tiffany jewellery when we were still dating, before I ever knew they had "affordable" pieces.

I see a Tiffany ad in the Washington Post whenever I look at a Sunday paper. But Tiffany is such an old and established brand that it really doesn't need to be pushed on people. Love it or hate it, it seems to set a standard. It's so copied and it's always referred to (directly and indirectly) by other jewelers.

I see Tiffany ads in fashion and women's magazines all of the time, but it would make a lot of sense to put more ads in men's magazines....Especially when there are so many women who would love for their men to be more familiar with the brand.

But then...a lot of men would probably ignore the ads. (Smart guys...) It's probably more effective if the woman gets familiar through her advertising channels, then guides (or forces) the man to the brand.
