I bought the longer 18" silver chain for my Tiffany's open heart necklace less than a year ago. Yesterday, I was adjusting it on my neck and it just broke! One of the links in the middle completely broke off. I wasn't tugging, just moving it so the clasp would be in the back. Luckily I was at home and able to recover the pendant! I probably would have lost it if I was outside. Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas if tiffanys would do anything to help?

I've never had it happen but I'm not surprised that it would to someone. Those chains are well made but still very delicate looking. I'm glad you didn't lose the pendant. I'm sure they would fix it for you if you took it in to T&Co... I think they would probably charge you something to do it unless you have a good relationship with a SA (mine would probably do it for free but I've heard all sorts of customer service issues lately).

Tiffany's will fix the chain. I think I paid $10 or $15 to have a broken chain fixed a few months ago. They actually send it back to NY to have it fixed so it takes a week or two.

Bring it to Tiffany's and tell them you've had it for less than 12 months. They may want to look it up in their system or if you still have the receipt, bring it in. They will probably repair it under warranty for free but ask. Otherwise, the cost will probably be less than $20 USD.

I've had it happen but not to any of my Tiffany pieces.
As the others have said, Tiffany & Co. will fix it for a very small price. Glad you were able to retrieve it though. |

I agree, take it to T&Co, they should definitely repair it, free of charge IMO.

oh, dear- that happened to my friend with the small beaded chain, it came right apart when she was putting it on. Since it was brand new she brought it back & they replaced it.
I have been wearing my key on a silver chain I have already had for 15+ years - not fancy, but it has lasted fine all this time. I was thinking about going back to t&co for their more dainty chain, but now I am scared to lose my key! Hmmm. |
