They have more styles in silver pieces. And even if they have the same style in both silver or gold, I saw most people including people on this board have silver. I know that the silver color is easy to match with your clothes, etc, but It's also easy to tarnish. I'd hate to spend money to clean it often. So why do you choose silver than gold? is it because Tiffany's silver is more famous than gold? I'm new to this borad. TIA.

Welcome to the board! I was in Tiffanys today. I tried two 1837 necklaces on, one in gold and one in silver. Surprisingly the silver looked so much nicer around my neck. Usually I prefer most expensive and I joked with the SA that I liked the silver more. I wouldn't worry about tarnishing. I'd choose what looks best on skintone and matches your other jewelry.

silver and diamonds....that's what they're best known for. i hope that answers your question.
yes, it's easy to tarnish, but you could save your money by buying some cleaning solution that is pretty effective. so, no worries about needing to spend the money to get it professionally cleaned when you could do it yourself. i choose silver over gold 1.) b/c it's more popular 2.) gold is not my thing |

I also think that since much of their designs are so casual, silver tends to go better with the designs themselves.

I think price may have a lot to do with it. Tiffany makes some gorgeous items in gold or platinum, but they're much more expensive than their silver items are.

i usually choose silver because it is cheaper and it goes with more plus i am just not a gold person in general.

I own both silver and platinum pieces from Tiffany. I prefer platinum as it's more durable and doesnt tarnish. Gold doesn't suit my skintone.

Thanks everyone for your reply! What everyone said made good points why I saw more silver than gold. Thanks again.

I always wear silver and like some people have mentioned, I feel like Tiffany's pieces tend to look better (and more recognizable) in silver. I haven't bad problems with tarnishing - I have a sterling ring I've worn daily for a year with no problems. :)

I think people tend to prefer white metals in general. They just buy more silver from Tiffany's because it's more affordable. Fortunately a lot of their silver designs come in platinum or white gold if you would prefer a piece that's easier to care for.

Well the sterling is much more accessible price wise than the gold at T& Co., so I think more people buy it and it's more popular/well known. They also have lots of fun, young designs that I think look better in sterling than gold. However, I prefer gold with my skin tone so I'm trying to buy more gold jewelry, and Tiffany's has some gorgeous designs in gold that are not available in silver or that just look better (IMO) in gold.

tiffanys was pretty well know for engagement rings....long before their popular sterling-silver jewelry line...
