I think I am the last woman on earth that does not own pearl studs. I am ready to buy, and want to do it online. I'm concerned about size, as I have a small head and ears, and I would love to see some pics of ladies wearing their studs.
Any help would be appreciated! |

Good for you! I wear pearl studs every day. If you're going to order online, here are a few good websites to choose from:
pearlparadise.com (my all time favorite) thepearloutlet.com pearlsofjoy.com purepearls.com IMO: 7-8mm is a very good size for every day studs. The most important thing is to get the absolute best quality pearls you can afford. Most people aren't very educated about pearls, but Freshwater pearls are a GREAT option. (Honestly, akoya is useless unless you're going for the absolute highest quality, and then the luster is okay, but still not as great as highest quality freshwaters, imo). My rec is to go to Pearl Paradise and buy some "Freshadama" studs (Freshadama is their brand of gem quality freshwater pearls with orient). They start at $45, and I think there may be a $10 off coupon floating around somewhere. I'll upload pics of mine in a bit (I wear my freshadama 7-8mm every day) http://www.pearlparadise.com/detail.aspx?ID=771 |

Thanks-I will check those out! Right now my main concern is purchasing too large. I think 7-8 will be too big for my little ears. Any real life pics would be great if you have any! |

Okay, here are some pics. I only have 6-7mm and 7-8mm. IMO, unless you're looking for like a seed pearl, 6-7 or 7-8 should be fine. I also have small ears
FYI- Pearls are soft gemstones, so they won't last forever. I plan on buying new studs next year just because of normal wear and tear (I even shower in them).7-8mm: ![]() 6-7mm: ![]() Shameless plug for freshadamas :![]() (Mine are so reflective- even after 6 months of abuse- that you can see me making a peace sign next to my camera) |

I think QVC.com has a set of Honora pearls with different sizes. You might want to check that out and see what your favorites are.
I have several pearl earrings, but my studs are Mikimoto. I know some people think they are overpriced because of the name, but I have had them for many years and just love them! |

Here are mine. I was afraid I would look ridiculous if the studs were too big. These are 7-7.5 mm size and I think they're perfect. They're Mikimoto and a gift to myself.
I'd never wear them in the shower, lol! I am so paranoid and careful with my pearl jewelry, you would think it was made of blown glass. They're the last thing I put on and the first thing I take off. I always wipe them with a soft cloth after wearing or handling them. I don't want to replace them every year, I want them to last forever.

![]() I looked at the studs in the Mikimoto A-AA-AAA display and to my eyes, while there was a slight and hardly noticeably difference between A and AAA, it was certainly not worth the price difference. They glow just as same when looking at them on someone's ear. ![]() I'll try and take a picture with my camera when I get home from work. I need to post in the the pearl picture reference thread anyway. That was with my camera phone. |
