I sold a pair of pierced diamond screw back earrings on ebay and clearly stated that 1 back was missing.
I live in a small town but both my jewellers stock these, starting from £14. These were a £500 pair of diamond earrings and I put them up as a best offer and accepted £75, knowing that the buyer would have to replace the back. Since Saturday I have had nasty emails from the buyer sayings that she can't get a replacement. I rang a few of her local jewellers for her and gave her 2 suppliers. I now get further emails from her that she is opening a dispute as the jeweller said that you can't buy replacements anywhere and the post needs replacing at a cost of £75!! I offered her a further £15, as I am off on holiday soon and really stressing about this. She is adamant she is opening a dispute?? I have been told by a number of jewellers, that these can be replaced, do you think she is trying it on? Has anyone ever tried to get a replacement?? Any help would be much appreciated.. |

I think that she's trying to get them for free. Id say that the only option she has is to buy the back which was stated in the auction, or she has to return them for a refund.

i had a very difficult time buying a replacement for screw back earrings. i found a nice jeweler online who was willing to mail me a couple...but i'm not sure who/where he is now.
but if she was aware of the problem, it is her issue. i don't think she can force a return of the item, if it was stated as damaged in the description. i have given up on ebay, such nutty people out there. |

wait a minute!!!! u sold earring worth 500 pounds for 75 pounds! and she wants her money back?!!!!! that is really sad of her!!!
now, yes it may be challenging to get replacements.... but all she needs to do is find a reputable jeweller and she might have to give them the earrings for a little while, so its a true fit... this is in my own experience.... but it is possible. gold im assumung.... stay away form ebay! |
