Japster and others, do you know any other info re the royal jewels? For instance, preferred supplier/source/designer? Any precious stones they won't use, or styles they won't touch? Do they re-use any stones from generations past? Any trivia would be lovely to hear.. tia

They wear a lot of jewels that are part of their countries 'crown jewel" collections that is either kept in a vault or sometimes on display for the public. These jewels are especially for weddings and coronations. Some countries I'm sure have an official jeweler, but I've seen many royals wear jewels from multiple designers, though often one from their native country. By the way, there are specific types and definitions of crowns: A tiara has an open back; a circlet is closed. A tiara is a jewelled head ornament; a diadem has resonance of sovereignty. A coronet is a heraldic device denoting Nobility; a crown is a symbol of a Monarch or Sovereign Prince. [Christian] crowns generally have arches surmounted by a cross (religious symbolism); Royal crowns have arches dipped at the centre, Imperial crowns don't. And here is a video on the making of a tiara: http://www.chaumet.com/en/History/ch...U_WEST/EN/6190 |

Here's Queen Silvia and Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden sharing the same tiara: Queen Sofia of Spain and Princess Letizia sharing the same flower tiara. The late Queen Mother of England handed down her tiara and necklace to Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall The ruby parure, or the Desiree ruby set, of Princess Mary of Denmark previously belonged to Queen Ingrid. |

The six rosetta tiara worn by Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden can be blinged out by adding more diamonds on the base. The pendant on her necklace can be used as a brooch. This tiara worn by Queen Silvia of Sweden can be converted to a necklace by removing the dangling bits and placing them on a chain as worn by Princess Madeleine. |

Princess Maxima of Holland. I love how she's always smiling. She also stacks Pomellato rings.
