I saw the crown jewels of England when I was in London on my honeymoon. I will never forget them. Absolutely amazing. Jewels the size of a large bar of soap. The most fantastic pearls. I saw wonderful jewels at the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul too. I love jewelry.

Wow, what a fun thread! I love jewelry - too bad we don't have more pictures of the jewelry belonging to the Romanovs - in the late 1800s and early 1900s they were far and away the wealthiest of the royal families and some of their pieces...OMG. One of my faves is a beautiful pearl and diamond diadem that found its way to the British royal family (Empress Alexandra was the sister of Queen Mary, at least I think that is her name). Anyway, there are pictures of Diana wearing it and it looks so gorgeous on her. The Russian crown jewels are on display at the Kremlin - at least they were when I was there many years ago - and they are jaw dropping.

I also love the jewelry of the Dutchess of Windsor. She was not royalty, and not even an attractive woman, but she wore very simple clothes that were a beautiful backdrop for her gorgeous jewelry.

And don't worry about not being a princess...look at what happened to the Romanovs...money and jewelry can't buy everything. Okay, off my soapbox now!
