here is a close up of crown princess mary of denmark's ring. i thought this was especially interesting because before i added my grandmother''s round stone to my original engagement ring, this is exactly what it looked like before.

princess mary's ring:

my original engagment ring (with my grandmother's round stone added a few years ago):

^^^that's what i thought as well. to be honest, hers doesn't look much bigger than mine and my emerald cut diamond is only .75 carats. it could also be the angle, too, but i still think it should have been HUGE! lol

seriously...PRINCESSES, get on the ball. we need to see some mega-watt rocks. you're a PRINCESS for pete's sake. if he can't afford it, buy it yourself. doesn't she look annoyed? maybe she's disappointed too...hehehe

now don't anyone get upset at me...it was a joke!!!

Here's the Kent fringe tiara. The picture s from Prince & princess Michle of Kent's wedding. HM and the Princess Royal also wore a fringe on their wedding days (a loan from the queen mum)

This is Queen Victoria Eugenia of Spain wearring a nice and regal tiara with Heraldic lilys (Fleur-de-lis)

I guess you've all seen HM QEII's kokoshnik so here's an emerald and diamond one. The greek royal family has a freat collection of big cabochon emeralds. They are just great.Love them!

this is interesting. upon further investigation, mary's ring is actually flanked by two red rubies, not sapphires (like mine).

apparently, it's modeled after the denmark flag, which is tradition.

just to add big engagement rings are not tradition in most of europe thus no matter what family etc you rarely see them .the big stones are worn as a an occasion jewel or right(left hand ring
