Wonderful thread! Thank you so much for posting all these pics, and thank you esp for the history behind them!! I never knew that the young, modern 21st century royals were still wearing jewels from the 1700s..Its so nice to see how much they value and treasure their country's past and their ancestor's jewels :)

This sapphire and diamond brooch was a wedding present from Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. Diana wore it as a brooch on two occasions before having it converted as the centre-piece of a seven-strand pearl choker.
