Default Ronald Abram in HK
Is there anyone from Hong Kong on this forum? Or anyone familiar with the jeweller Ronald Abram at Mandarin Oriental Hotel in HK? I'd like to know a bit more about them, apart from the fact that they display diamonds the size of marbles in their windows. Do they do smaller stones, and is the workmanship good?

Yes, they do smaller stones, antique jewelry, and other precious stones, but very pricey. In terms of workmanship, I honestly don't see a huge difference between them and other local jewelers; they probably use the same craftsmen but I don't know. They do have the advantage of presenting the best stones I've seen, after Graff and Harry Winston in HK. They've had a 10 carat pink diamond and it's quite common for them to display such items.

Thanks transcendent1. Do you have recommendations for local jewellers in HK?

There are lots of jewelers dotted along the area in Central, near Ronald Abram, no less. Look at their windows, see which ones appeal to you. Quite a few in Prince's Building, The Galleria, etc.

I travel to Hong Kong often and like to work with Prince Jewellery & Watch (I have been to the TST store near the Peninsula as well as the one in the mall next to the InterContinental. Lovely and unique things.
Larry Jewelry is also nice, they have a branch on Nathan Road in TST and somewhere in Central if I remember correctly (at least). Lane Crawford also has some interesting jewelry selections.

What abt Chow Tai Fook? they have stores all over the city, their selections from each of the store are computerized and linked, so really huge selections.

Thanks for your recommendations everyone. I'm looking for Asscher cut diamonds but a lot of jewellers don't import them. The only jeweller I've found so far is Ronald Abram. But if the smallest size is 2 carat......

There are plenty of jewelers who have Asscher cut diamonds all over the city. Go look at some of the smaller stores in The Galleria, Carrera in particular.

I would go to Larry as well. My family has purchased many gems from them including diamonds, emeralds and rubies and have been very pleased with the quality.
