Question Rolex Watch -which style for women?
Which style Rolex do you think looks best for a woman in her 40's? There are so many styles and sizes. Is there a particular one that you would not recommend and why?

I don't think the age matters since Rolex is classic. The style you choose depends on your budget.

I agree with burberry princess, Rolex is a classic. I was looking around for a Rolex last year and came across their new collection, dome bezel with oyster bracelet.

In the end, I decided for the iconic fluted bezel with Rolesor bracelet because I think it is classic and will not look dated even when I am in my 50s. SA is surprised that I would go for fluted bezel with jubilee bracelet due to my age.

Prefer the yellow gold instead of the new rose gold purely of 2 things,
i) yellow gold matches my skin tone better
ii) rose gold has more copper than silver. Silver costs more than copper. Moreover rose gold may look nice now but it will be dated.

Have you eyed anything so far? My suggestion is see as many models as possible and see which suits you. Good luck.

I think any Rolex watch will be classy and appropriate for you. I am in my 40's also and I warn you to choose a watch with a clear contrast between the face and the hands. I had to sell my ROlex because it had a gold face and gold hands and my eyes could not focus to tell the time. I wish I had chosen a white face and black hands, or dark face and silver hands.

That's so true. When my mom was in her mid 40s, she had problem seeing the time. Hers was a light face with gold dials. She later changed to black dial with diamond markers for better visibility.

You know, you can always change the dial later, like what my mom did on hers and what I plan to do with mine. That's the thrill of owning a Rolex...you can always change the dial to suit your needs without paying a fortune for another watch.

If you don't mind me asking - how much was it to change the dial ?

I am having a dilemma picking out a colour for the dial, I'm torn between a light colour (peach, silver) and a dark blue. But hey, if it's not too bad to get them switched, I might just go for the light and then go for the dark later on !

Rolex quoted me $1,500 to change to black dial with diamond markers or any dials (except MOP) with diamond markers. As long as Rolex makes that dial for my specific watch. On top of it, another $500 for the 5 year maintenance for a total of $2,000. Go visit your local Rolex dealer for the dial sample book.

that depends on her life style.

If she is more in sport, then the midsize with oyster bracelet would fit well.
Otherwise, the midsize on jubilee bracelet with diamond dial should be one of the best !

there are 2 sizes for ladies: 26mm, and31mm (midsize).

I have two midsizes. One is black diamond dial, and the other is silver diamond dial. Both are on jubilee bracelet with fluted bezel.

Is there any place online where to look at ladies Rolex watches? The official website is annoying. It might be helpful to see everything lined up side by side to compare and see what you like and don't like on certain models.

You can try the Rolex forum but most are about men watches.

I agree with Burberry, also. Rolexes are classic and the style you choose depends on your taste and life style. I would recommend going on the Rolex's website and take a look at their watches. It will help you make up your mind, on the style.
I am all about the bling, so I got diamonds on both dial and bezel. I am in my 20's, so I think your choice should depend on what you like, not what's appropriate for your age. LOL, they are all beautiful for any age.
Good luck!!!

Actually, I think on my watch, yellow would have been 200 less. The copper may be cheaper than silver, but Rolex also alloys their rose gold with 2percent platinum to help keep the color stable, which may explain the slightly higher price.

I personally prefer the rose just a teensy bit more, because of the way looks on my skin. My grandmother had quite a few rose gold pieces and got me hooked.

I did a not so common style, midsize with oyster bracelet and domed bezel with diamond gold-dust-infused mop dial. The only downside to my choice may be that it would not do as well on the second hand market if I ever decide to sell, due to the fact it is not as sought after as some of the more classic styles. But it doesn't change the fact that I absolutely love it.

The most classic style is probably the ladies 26mm with jubliee bracelet and fluted bezel. I love the ss/ yg combo in this watch with a silver or champaigne jubilee diamond dial.

Burberry Princess was absolutely correct with all of her info! It is $500.00 for the 5-year maintenance and $1500 to switch faces. They sell more stainless steel now than 2-tone but more oyster bracelet than jubilee. They also sell more of the smallest size face than mid-size for women. I'm leaning towards jubilee (no diamonds - can add later) on all stainless. I was leaning towards silver face but black might be better for contrast to read time. They say that they both hold their value equally. Which color do you think is prettier?

I definitly would prefer the silver face, I think that a silver face would definitly be prettier then a black but I'm just not a fan of black faces at all. I think the ladies size jublilee, stainless & white gold would be a very classic and classy watch! Thats actually the watch I was orginally going to go for but then I decided I NEEDED the diamond MOP dial lol. I"m in my 20's and I wanted all white metal but I love the idea of being able to trade in to get two tone eventually and like you said you can upgrade to a diamond dial later on which is such a great option
