Question Rolex authorized retailer recommendations
I've been seriously looking at getting a new watch for a while (midsize oyster perpetual 12,3,6,9 dial w/ fluted bezel - can someone post pics ) but I can't take the plunge yet without knowing more about authorized dealers...namely ones that can move a little bit regarding the price.

I've heard 10% is normal...whereas some say it's impossible to negotiate (perhaps with more popular models it's harder?).

So I visited my local CD Peacock jewelry and watch store and found my love for $5000 even. When I asked about a discount, the girl just balked and said, "that's rather impossible but if you were to find it elsewhere for cheaper, we'll call up that store's buyer, check the price, and price match..."

So I asked about shipping out of state to avoid sales tax and she said "yes we can do that, shipping's $40." I'm thinking - geez, I'm spending $5000 at your store, at least you can do complimentary shipping!

I'm not looking to get authentic grey market watches (no real warranty) so that's out.

I don't know where you live, but in Beverly Hills there are lots of jewelry stores that sell Rolex but most of them are NOT authorized, they just sell them. A lot of them are also aftermarket bezels, which greatly differ in price from original bezel watches, but are still very pretty. As for the authorized dealers, I only know of Geary's Beverly Hills on North Beverly Drive and North Rodeo Drive.

I don't know where you are located but you can go to the Rolex web site a and look up every authorized dealer. I would first go to every AD in your area and see what they are willing to do price wise. You can also call AD's in other areas and ask what they will do and they can ship it to you, I'm not sure if they would be as willing to discount without actually being in the store, it depends on their policy. There are only 2 AD's in my area and one automatically takes 10% off every Rolex, regardless of the retail price. The other will discount only if you ask and will take more off on higher value watches.
