Default Roberto Coin - any fans?
Sorry if this has been asked before but I recently purchased a pair of earings from Bloomies and I noticed the little ruby which the sales lady says is his signature and is on all his pieces. Well I quickly went home because I own a necklace he designed called a floating heart pendant and there was no ruby. The piece was bought at Nordstrom so it could not be a fake - or could it? Does every piece have the little ruby stone?

Every piece that I have has the ruby. It's his signature and it's supposed to be on every piece he makes. If you look up his work, it speaks of the "symbolic" signature ruby hidden inside every Roberto Coin piece. I'm not saying your necklace is fake but I wouldn't put it past Nordstrom to sell questionable goods. In my opinion it's one step up from a discount store.

I have an older Roberto Coin piece (think it's 8 years old or so) and there is no ruby on it. I believe that the older pieces do not have it. There is a designer's number (can't recall it at the moment) that SHOULD be on all his pieces, however.

My RC necklace has a ruby. I read somewhere that all the pieces have them as they are meant to bring good luck or something like that.

I have to say, though, that the ruby on mine is so teeny, tiny, that I really have to squint to see it.

Bloomies at White Flint is having an RC Trunk Show next week or the week after, I can't remember which. I hope to be able to go.

what? Nordies isn't a "step up" from a discount store.
They sell Chanel and other high end designer goods?
What do you mean?

Harley, Nordies doens't sell fakes, but I'd go to the store w/ it and ask to see other RC pieces and see if they all have it.

Agreed.

Nordie isn't even close to being one step up. Its higher then Macy*s... in my opinion. (except for the NYC Macy*s which has everything including LV.)

I don't what Nordstrom's you shop at, but there are very high end designer lines in the Los Angeles locations. Great customer service too.

I have two Coin pieces. A pair of chic and shine earings and a diamond station necklace .. both have the ruby.

perhaps this poster is thinking of Nordstrom Rack? before a nordie opened up on oahu this past year, my only experience with Nordstrom was The Rack, which is pretty discounty, which i actually LOVED. LOL

I bought it online from the Nordstrom website. It is a very delicate piece - here is a copy of it. I would think Nordstrom is quite high end, maybe not like Neiman Marcus but I am told by SAs at Nordstrom in Chicago is leasing space to Louis Vuitton, if that is true, why would LV be at a lower end store, with the exception of Macy's in NYC. They have been there forever but Macy's no longer sells any high end goods. I used to work for the company and I remember boutiques for Armani and the like but once the parent (Federated) bought Bloomies, Macy's was designated to be a middle-end store. The LV boutique in NYC is an exception.

Anyway, back to my necklace, here is a picture of it and for the life of me, even if you wanted a small ruby on it, where would it go?

Same on the east coast. Other than Chanel because I was told by a Nordstrom exec that the market here is too saturated ... every high end store has a Chanel boutique plus we have three stand alone stores in NYC. But every one I have been too - Short Hills, Roosevelt Field, carry clothes and stuff from Armani, Versace, etc. You reallly can't get much higher end than that.
