Default Right hand ring ideas for a solitaire diamond

I'm divorced, mother of 2. I have a solitaire, princess cut, about 1.6 carats that I'd like to set in a ring for my right hand. I have an SO, though, and I don't want people thinking we're engaged (he has marriage-issues, so we may conceivably never get married). I really miss wearing a nice diamond though, and since I have one, I wanted to reset it (it's in a solitaire setting now) and wear it. Any ideas on mounts that won't look to e-ring-ish?

i think you should set it in a wide band and have diamond accents around it. i'm not sure how it would look with a big solitaire, maybe scratch that idea. LOL. I'm trying to think of how to make it not look like an e-ring but however way you slice it, i think it would end up looking like one because it's such a big soliatire. my only suggestion would be to wear it on your middle finger on the right hand...i think most people would first question if it's an e-ring, but by seeing that it's on your middle finger, it leaves room for doubt in their mind. the placement of the ring on which finger is usually a good indication of whether it is a e-ring or not imo.

How about a swirl with the diamond in the middle?

Cutiepie21, I thought about doing it as a pendant, but I really want to wear a ring! I'm not much of a necklace person. Only on special occasions if I remember.

FlgirlFM, do you mean like a halo setting? I actually love those halo settings, but I was thinking it'd look too e-ring again.

Do you ladies think if I did a halo with colored gemstones instead of diamonds it'd look less e-ring like? There's a thread on colored halos and the samples in there are gorgeous! Not sure where to get one though......

there's another thread on this exact same topic.
Most of us recommended a fun halo setting w/ other gemstones, such as sapphires or something.

Another way to go is a pinky ring. Thst size stone set in a gypsy (shank with a slight
bit of a dome- but nothing high) Bezel set would be spectacular and you could wear it on your left hand with no confusion about being married.

Does anyone know of any websites that sell colored gemstone settings?

Suggest:

1) With a couple of other diamonds/bands so it's more like a wide and fancy RHR.

or this:

2) Agree with Swanky to mix other Gem Stones ala Jackie Kennedy.

Round Brilliant seems more common, but get a jeweller whose style you'll like and I'm sure you can work out something!

I think a halo setting, with or without colored stones, would look great as a right hand ring. I don't think it'd look too much like an engagement ring, especially since it's princess cut.
