Im hoping to get a 1.5ct (total) diamond studs for my wedding.
I have been looking thru Bluenile. A ready made 18k, minimum I colour, Si2 clarity would cost USD3400. They dont provide much info like cut, polish, etc. So my question is should i spend USD600 more for I colour, Si2, Very Good Cut, excellent polish? and a cert. Any help is welcome..

Does Bluenile sell "fair" grade cuts? If so, than you might want to pay a little extra for the reassurance.

I'd pay more to pick them out myself, personally. Also, take a look at James Allen.

^^ I'd pay a little extra. Also, if you're "building your own" try checking for a range of ctw, sometimes you can find them just "shy" of your total goal for lots less.
i got my mom a pair of .92ctw rounds I/SI1/ideal a year or so ago and each earring was .46cts... on ears, not noticably smaller than .50cts.... and since they were ideal cuts they caught light & sparkled madly. And because the color/clarity was lower than the ready made, the price was slightly less than for about the same carat weight. my mom loved them. here they are in the reference section post #29 in different lighting... that last pic with the fire flash... that's my e-ring which is D-colored. i think the earrings still look very white next to it in that lighting. Post photos of your diamond earrings here! |

I'm not color sensitive so I don't really start seeing color until "J". My ering is an "I" and I think it's perfectly white. Also, I think color shoes less in earrings.
