Default Ready for my first real jewelry
I'm very much into handbags and shoes and kinda overlooked jewelry. I do have some pearl earrings and delicate necklaces/rings, but now I want a piece that really stands out. I'm not rushed and have time to look, but could you recommend me some brands/sites to check out? TIA

I think jewelry is something that calls to you; it is so personal. Since you are now interested in it; I'll bet that pieces are going to start jumping out and catching your attention.

You might want to just browse at your local jewelry stores, Tiffany.com will give you a good idea of some classic pieces too.

I would say look at local jewelry stores and some of the jewelry threads to decide what piece you are looking for first. Are you looking for a ring, necklace, pendant, bracelet, or earrings? Are you looking for a set? Are you looking for white gold, yellow gold, platinum, or sterling silver? Are you looking for all metal, diamonds, semi-precious gemstones, or precious gemstones?

Next, go to local jewelry stores and do some price checking. Look around for who has the best value and Carat weight (or Karat Weight) for what you are interested in spending.

Start by looking at Judith Ripka jewelry. She makes fantastic jewelry in both her mainstream line and her QVC sterling silver line. Also, look at David Yurman, LeVian, and Bulgari.
Also, I would consider a local jeweler other than a mall store. They are able to get you better values and quality jewelry.
If you want to buy from a mall store, shop at Macy's. They have great LeVian pieces and semi-precious stone jewelry.

Do you have an idea of the style (ethnic, trendy, classic?) you're leaning toward? Also, metal (sterling, gold, platinum, etc) and price range? It will help you focus you search and will probably give others ideas of where you might find things you would love!

Tahitian pearl necklace. You will wear it with everything, if the pearls are large enough and/or have fabulous luster it will definitely stand out!!! Plus, it is a classic that you will wear for years -if not decades.

Pearls are ageless and timeless too. They look perfect on the 20-somethings through the 90-somethings

This was going to be my suggestion, too. Absolutely timeless and gorgeous piece.
