Default Question for Chanel J12 Watch Owners
Has anyone ever heard of chipping or cracking one of the links?

The watch is ceramic.. so its possible... right?

Well, I noticed yesterday that my 8 month old watch has a cracked link. I know Chanel will fix it.. but wondering what happens once the watch is out of warranty.

call Chanel! Those watches are expensive, worst case you can buy a new link!

I went last night.. and they will replace it. But.. when I asked if people come in often with this.. they said.. "Oooh no, we have never seen this before. Nobody has come back about a cracked link."

I don't even know how I did it.. I assume I bumped it somehow... but I am sooo careful when I wear it. I'm just scared it will happen again.

I have my J12 since March (so still fairly new) and dont baby it at all (is my everyday watch), I have never heard of this problem before, as ceramic is "supposed" to be very durable material, now you've got me thinking otherwise.

ceramic is... what a mug is made out of.. or lenox.. i mean.. different.. but the same.

I have only worn my watch.... maybe a total of 40 days since I got it..since I swap out with lots of other watches...

Honestly.. I dont know if dropped it or what.. but I don't remember doing anything to it... to have a broken link. its the one attached to the opening and closing bar.. where there is a little line.. its the only link like that on the bracelet.

At the Chanel forum, one of the ladies there, said that she was at a clothing store flipping thu the clothes rack very fast, and her j12 watch just flew from her wrist to the store's wooded floors and nothing happened to it, do you think you got a "faulty" one???, ask the MODS to move this thread to the Chanel forum, perhaps you'll get more information there, as I said mine still fairly new and no problems whatsoever and I wear it nonstop.

Thank you.. i just tried to figure out how to get a mod to move it.. but i dont see an email address for them.

... i guess a wood floor is somewhat cushioning.

It's supposed to be a very high-tech ceramic and not prone to cracks at all- maybe yours had an internal one that made it weak in that spot. Hopefully it's just a fluke though- it's an expensive (and gorgeous) watch!

Never had a problem with mine and I've been wearing it on and off for 16 months. Will they fix it onsite or do you have to have it sent in? GL.

Weird. I've posted this many times, but Chanel ceramic is a 9 on the MOHS scale of hardness. Diamonds are 10. I can't imagine what it would take to crack a link, I suppose it was faulty during manufacturing? Who knows. I've been wearing mine every day since November 2007 and banged it up quite a few times and the ceramic still looks brand new, not even a slight chip, nothing.

Good luck, I'm glad they're fixing it for free!

they are going to say that because that is a standard response from a SA. no matter how many have come back whether it be a watch or a purse, they are going to make it sound like its not a problem for you not to feel insecure about your purchase. If they tell you "oh yes i've already had 5 people come in this week with the same problem" you're going to start looking at the brand with a different set of eyes.
