Hi everyone, just wondering what your thoughts are on prong/claw vs bezel setting. Which do you prefer for most practical, most secure and showing off the diamond best? I personally prefer a high bezel set for security and practicality but am currently torn over changing to 4 double/split claw to show off the diamond better.
Although my mind is 90% set on having my 2nd ering designed similar to my original with a high bezel, I'm a bit hesitant on getting the claw. What do you guys think? Half bezel is out of the question as it makes the round diamond look oval. |

I love the look of the four prong "claw"--I agree that it really shows off the diamond. The problem with bezels is that the outer rim of the diamond is covered in order to hold the diamond which makes the diamond look a tad, tiny bit smaller.
I hope this helps you. |

I'm just worried about the security of the diamond as the claws tend to snag and bend. Also it snags onto clothing... do you seem to have this problem also?

I've never cared for bezels personally. . . a little too much metal for me.

I agree with Swanky.
I prefer 4 or 6 prongs on a round brilliant....my 4 pronged rb diamond are actually double pronged (very thin & delicate & a little extra support). |

I found a pic of 4 prongs made into double prongs. This was actually my inspiration picture for my e-ring that i gave to my jeweler! My prongs are actually split slightly apart & thinner.

I prefer prongs as well. Mine get fuzz stuck under them sometimes, but I don't think they have snagged anything like clothing. I have never known anyone where their prongs have bent. If you currently have prongs and they are snagging on a lot of things, maybe take it to your jeweler to have them fixed??

I prefer the look of prongs too. In fact I don't think we even considered bezel set when we were engagement ring shopping

Thanks so much for your input guys... I guess the only way to really make up my mind is to go in and see the jeweller and choose :)

I agree with Swanky, not a fan of bezel settings.
