Hello,
I just won an auction on ebay ..... GORGEOUS BLACK 10MM TAHITIAN PEARL NECKLACE 14KYG I told my local jeweller about this and he said "THERE IS NO WAY IN THE WORLD YOU CAN GET A GENUINE SALT WATER TAHITIAN PEARL NECKLACE for $200-" ..... he said pearls cost him $100 each .... just for 1 10mm pearl. He said most probably the pearls as DYED FRESH WATER PEARLS or worse SEA SHELL PEARLS - MADE FROM SEA SHELLS (ARTIFICLE). Please take a look at the auction I won and please comment.... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....m=230260778659 Ebay auction number :- 230260778659 ![]() ALL ADVICE APPRECIATED..... I have not paid yet.... and I want to ensure these are SALT WATER PEARLS. |

These are very, very, off baroque shape 8-10mm size which will be significantly less than perfectly smooth, round Tahitian pearls. The ones in the auction picture are not bad if that is the actual strand you get.
Your Jeweler is probably picturing perfectly round gem quality 10mm Tahitians and not baroque shaped 8-10mm pearls. |
