new ring too big

I got a new ring with a stone and even though I got it sized it still will fall to the side.. what can be done? How can I have my stone in the middle where it belongs?

It sounds like your ring is top heavy. Is the shank very thin?

Nope.. but I've seen women with rocks and no slippage to the side.. do they have to put in those little balls in the inside of the ring?

I just brought my ring to the jewelers this past week b/c i'm having the same problem as you are. Well, i've been having this problem for the past MANY years that i've had this ring and i'm finally going to do something about it. I prefer my stones to be in the middle too! Anyways, since i wanted my stones to always bein the center, he suggested to put a butterfly guard inside the band. It will adjust to my finger size if it swells or decreases in girth. He suggested this because he said that sizing the ring probably wouldn't really solve my problem.

I had to get a fingermate, anyways I think that is what it is called. The back of my ring open and closes. It gets bigger to fit over my knuckle then snaps snuggly in place. I had to have it sent off to the company via my jeweler and it cost around $500

You can get a temporary interior ring guard that will help it stay in place better.

I am going to look into this.. thank you.. my friend had these welded balls placed inside her ring to keep it centered.

I think that's what my jeweler showed me. Does one half of the ring open up (kind of like some cuffs i've seen) and you could close it? You have to use something sharp to trigger open the hindge. Correct? It was the coolest thing i have saw in the longest time. He said that it cost around 3 to 4 hundred dollars to make. , kind of like what you were talking about...up there. But, if you have a knuckle size 8 vs a inner ring size 5, there's no hope of getting that booger in. He said that most women who do that have arthritis. Ok, i'm not in that boat yet....so, the butterfly guard would be the best option for me.

You're welcome shoegal, i can't wait to get my ring back this Monday, i've never been w/o her so long. But i think it will be definately worth it b/c she'll fit correctly for once. Don't be like me, i've considered it for the past 4 years and i've finally decided to do it. Oh yeah, just to add, the butterfly guard will soldered inside the band. If you want to go for a temporary fix, the interior ring guards which japster posted would be a good option too. Welded balls sounds good too, but what happens if your finger gets smaller or larger? The butterfly guard takes care of all those problems. Good Luck!

ok great.. where do I get butterfly clips? Are they what Jasper posted.. they arent permenantly in though are they? The ring size is appropriate, maybe it needs a tad bit smaller, but I think the clips will be better.. since I can remove it in the summer when my hands swell. In the winter or actually now in the fall, my finger is thinner, and the ring is moving to the side, where it didn't do that in the summer.

I wouldn't doo ring guards because I'm afraid that the shank would wear away too quickly. I think that I would just have it sent into a wider band.

my e-ring falls to the side also. I asked my jeweler about it and he said its because the diamond is very heavy and i have tiny fingers. I can't get balls or anything on it because i have big knuckles and unfortunately the ring needs to fit over my knuckle. ha

If yu have a finger mate on your ring now, in order to get it over your knuckles, then
sizing balls at 4 and 8 (in the circle as like a clock) are the idea solution. A good jeweler should only charge you around $75 dollars and it will keep you stone centered
rather than slipping sideways.

good luck! I have some problem as you...
I initally wanted wear my ring on right hand but diamond keeps slipping. I even tried new ring style & sized down; still slips.

My only solution was changing fingers! But my jeweller squared my ring so its got a flat'ish bottom & I think that helps.

They have those rings that are called European shank, I think, and instead of a round ring, it's almost like a triangle. I wanted one of those initially, but they can't just make any ring like that, they have to recast it.
