Default Need jeweler recommendation in San Francisco Bay Area
Hi everyone. My dear grandmother passed away recently and left me a ring as a memoir. The ring is very special to me as it is something she wore everyday before she passed away. Just thinking about this makes me a bit teary-eyed.

Anyway, the ring is about 3 sizes too big for me to wear. It is gold with diamonds. I would like to take it to a trusted jeweler to resize it. Since it is a very special item, I was wondering if you gals can recommend a jeweler for me in the San Francisco Bay Area and the approximate price in resizing.

Thanks a lot for all your help!

Sorry to hear about your grandmother. You can try Topper Jewelers in Burlingame. I do not have their pricing but my friends and I have gone there for repairs, resizing and customizations. They are very reliable.

Hehe. True. I live in the penisula of the Bay Area, about 20 miles south of San Francisco.

Ah, I grew up in the east bay so the contacts I have there probably would not help ya

I'd highly recommend Giraux in the SF Jewelry Mart on 8th and Brannan in SF. You can request a guest pass on their website http://www.giraux.com. It's nice since the pass is good for the entire center! Once you're in, you're in and you can walk around and visit any jeweler you'd like. =)

Another vote here for Giraux ... that's where DH and I bought my engagement ring! They are absolutely wonderful! My SA was Eddie. I don't know if he's still there or not (we bought the ring in 2002) but maybe if you go you can ask for him.

Lori, DH and I also bought my engagement ring at Giraux back in 2003! My MIL has known Giraux and his wife Sue for many, many years, so it was Sue that helped us. I know that their sons also work at the store... I wonder if Eddie is one of their sons?

My memory is failing me ... I looked at my e-ring receipt and although we shopped at Giraux, we actually wound up buying at Steve Padis ... but both places are equally wonderful!

I remember Steve Padis too (a coworker purchased from him) - he's just own the hallway from Giraux!

Thank you for all your suggestions, ladies. I will be sure to check out Giraux when I am in the area next time.

^ Oh, thanks for the heads up. That is extremely terrible. I hope the customers get what they paid for!

There is a jeweler in Fremont called Bay Jewelers. They are AGS certified, and have been in business for quite awhile. I recently went there and was very happy with their service. They do all work in-house, so no fear of problems with items getting sent out for sizing, repairs, etc.
