Multiple watch ?'s

There have been lots of watch opinion poll questions lately. My question is a little different. Would you rather have 2 or 3 Rolexes or 7 or 8 assorted Baume & mercier, Michele, Concord, etc? Is it better to go with a couple good classics or more fun and interesting to have a variety of names and styles? I'm beginning to think if you are young, go for the trends and not break the bank. But if you are middle-age, stay with classics.

Personally I have the following pieces....
2 x rolex - president and two tone datejust
2 x cartier
2 x fashion pieces - b&m and ap

i also have some other pieces i bought on a few whims.... dunhill steel ladies, obrey silver bracelet watch.....

to tell you the truth... with hindsight.... ALWAYS GO FOR THE BIG BRAND PIECES.... i owned 2 pateks and i easily sold/traded these.... with the fashion brands.... i am stuck with them forever.....

inhindsight i was stupid to buy the b&m, ap, dunhill and obrey..... i made a mistake.... and i will be stuck with these forever....

as for rolex.... you can always sell/trade..... and patek is also very good to sell/trade....

in hindsight.... get fewer BIG BRAND pieces.....

I stick to the classics....I have a rolex and a cartier. Im happy and satisfied with both

I think it's nice to have some variety in your watch collection (why can't you have classics and some more 'fun' watches?). I currently own an Omega constellation (which I've had about five years and will probably always be my favorite watch) and then this past fall bought a Michele mini deco. I plan to get the Michele ceramic deco in the next few months and also hope to one day buy a Cartier. I don't plan to sell any of my watches at any point in the future, so resale value doesn't matter much to me. I just buy what I like and know I will enjoy wearing regardless of it being considered 'classic' or 'fun.'

I used to have many different fun watches when I was younger. But I really regretted this as I see now that it is more worthwhile to buy 1 real good timeless watch than to spend money on "fun" watches. I don't wear any of the fun watches now and they are in my cupboard collecting dust.

I keep thinking ages 20's and 30's are great for fun timepieces and 40's and 50's are better not for having a lot of fun pieces. Maybe one or two is okay but not to get the newest each season. It is incredible how fashionable watches have become especially ehen everyone has the time on their cell phones!

I'd stick with the Rolexes. They hold their value better. Resale value for fashion watches is virtually non-existent. If you have to have a "fun" watch, don't spend a fortune on it.

it's also good to have a cheaper one for messing around, workouts etc

Thank you for your opinion ArmCandyLuvr. No more fun watches for me. I kind of knew the answer but it takes so long to save for the expensive stuff, that I sometimes get sidetracked with the more affordable ones. I get a lot of good advice from strangers on this forum!
