Question Low, Medium, or High Settings??
How do you prefer your rings to be sat? Low, medium, or high?? Why? Does it very from ring to ring?? (ex. your engagement ring high, your right hand ring low??) And the reason why it varies! TIA!

I've liked mine low for so long. DF always says it pokes him sometimes when I forgot to take it off before I sleep. Plus I don't want to skratch any babies or kids. But I really like the look of higher settings. They just catch my eye. So for my engagement ring I opted for a medium setting. At first it looked too high, but you know how it is. At first the diamond looks to big, then it shrinks. I'm kinda thinking my setting is like that. It's looking a bit lower to me know. LOL. But I don't want to go too high. Might start snagging on things. My medium one already shows snagging signs!

However, my right hand rings I tend to like them to be lower because I'm right handed and do so much more stuff with my rand hand. Don't want it banging on anything.

I like low flat, settings. I have all three types in my jewelry box and only wear the low ones.

That's the primary reason that if I get married (not there yet!), I anticipate not even wanting an e-ring.

I find them to be more comfortable, for a bunch of reasons (some hard to articulate). I don't like feeling "stuff" on my fingers either and I don't like knocking my hands on things- I have clutzy hands! W/ high settings, I feel like my hands are heavy or weighed down. I also take off all my jewelry as soon as I get home, so all that money on an e-ring would be a waste for me.

Ideally, when that time comes around, I'd end up w/ something like this:

Paired w/ a half eternity band like this:

Mine engagement ring is the Tiffany setting so it's pretty high and while it usually doesnt catch on things, I do have to be careful. I really like it though and wouldnt have it any other way

No right hand ring (yet!)

My original wedding band was a low setting that people told me had a european look. It was very comfortable to wear, and didn't turn on my finger as much as a higher setting would. By present ring is a medium setting - when I had my diamond set I asked them to bring the prong 'fixture' down as low as they could, but that had limits due to the depth of the diamond. Although this medium setting shows off the diamond more, and allows it to sparkle more than the other one did, it does turn on my finger, which bugs me. I may need to have those little balls put inside the ring to help stabilize it in an upright position.

For my right hand, I prefer band type rings, with or without stones. So there I always go with very low settings, if you can even call it a setting. They are more comfortable for me.

I would prefer a medium setting. A female friend who is very into jewelry once told me she thinks high settings are "cheating" to make the diamond look bigger. I can't say I agree with her, exactly, but there are rings that seem too high for my taste.

I have a very low setting and I LOVE IT! It's high enough to let light in but low enough that it doesn't snag. It's really hard when your picking the ring, b/c you are more than likely very emotional and picking it based on aesthetics. I would just encourage you to remember you will be wearing this every day in a variety of activities.

mine is too high for my taste.
I had every intention of letting them take it for the day and shorter my prongs but I just haven't yet.
I prefer a medium height, high enough for me to just barely see the point of the culet.

The problem is, it's harder to get a lower setting the larger the stone is in a prong design I like. . . but I digress.

I really agree with this! Some settings I have seen are very "showy"....however I chose a medium setting to let optimal light in & give my rock the shrine it deserves! lol

haha my BFF whos engaged and didnt have much money to spend on an engagement ring said she got a high setting, to make it look bigger. i believe its pretty true. i got my low setting engagement ring reset into medium tiffany's setting. and it looks a lot bigger IMO and everyone whos seen the two. plus the light shines through like crazy. i had no idea it would make that big of a difference. i thought my medium setting was too high when i first got it. and now.. 3 days later. i want it a little higher. LMAO. but im glad i didn't because its not something id want to wear everyday doing all sorts of physical activities. dont want to knock it too much.
